Germanicus on the Rhine

I am now at turn 44 and I haven't lost any legion (or Germanicus), I have retrieved the 3 standards, Arminius is dead  and my Batavian scouts have shown that I still have 3-4 cities to conquer! The race against time is launched, but I might have been too cautious in my advance...

Turn 48, the 24th german city fell to my batavians! :D

With the death of Arminius, the retrieval of the standards and the survival of all my legions, this looks like a total victory... :goodjob:

I ended up with:
- 10 detachments
- Germanicus and Caecina
- 25 Batavian Horses (lost 9)
- 3 Roman Cavalry (lost 1)
- 37 Gallic Auxiliaries (lost 0)
- 20 Chalcii Auxiliaries (lost 3)
- 10 Syrian Auxiliaries (lost 3)
- 4 Battering rams (lost 1)
- 5 warships
- 4 barges
- all legions + praetorians

And the Cheruscii lost about 1'000 units during the war: what a slaughter!

I had a great time playing, thanks a lot John! :king:

I often used my Batavians as "traps" for the germans: thanks to their high movement (all as road), I sent them as scouts and parked them on deep forest (+100% defense) where they waited for the germans to die attacking them; when they were wounded, they could easily retreat or be reinforced by other batavians.

Maybe 1 less in defense for the batavians would make these tactics less useful?

Does this scenario play on vanilla, or are FW, MGE,etc. needed?
