Getting AI to DoW on eachother.

I've tried both of these methods almost non stop with practically every civ. It's always that theres no way to make it happen. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep trying.

It's probably because you were asking a military weak civ to attack a strong one. If the AI you want to see being attacked has highest military strength in the demographics table, it's almost impossible to convince other civs to attack him. What you can do, however, if you are not at war with that given civ, is to bribe that civ to DoW your friend.

Same result, often for a cheaper price. I've had deity games where I would bribe alexander into DoWing 6 AIs the same turn because he was top military demographic

Which is kind of nice if you want to go after him, not only due to the destraction but you get a lot of "fighting the same enemy" boni.

one of the strange things in civ5 diplo is that the other civs will still see you as a warmonger if you rush to their rescue. in the end they are correct, but well... :king:

Open the advisor screen and find out which civ(s) have the strongest military. You can often get a civ with a strong military to DoW ones with weaker military.

They will see you as a warmonger if you declare a new war before the penalty from a previous DoW falls off, at least the basic idea is that, there are more layers of complexity, but if you have not DoWed in the past 30 turns(least I think it's 30 turns, it may be 50), they won't see you as a warmonger for a that single DoW.

It's actually one of the reason why I've been shifting off from stealing a worker from CSs to from a neighboring civ. Not only do I get to have a worker earlier, but I can also simply keep that war open for later without getting the warmonger diplo penalty for DoWing both a CS and a civ.
