GGF1: Incas

i wouldnt mind joining that one gunner, it would make it easier me thinx...

@hakon... lol sorry about not addressing this above, I said one or 2 more galleys because if you didn't notice, some cities of Spain are too far away for us to just walk over there and take em, we'll need amphibious assaults to take some of those cities will 1 or 2 other galleys explore (only when we get our money back though :sad: )

hmm, if you want to play fast, skip me, because it's already 11 pm here, I am at the wrong computer, don't have the will to play civ3 now. and tomorrow I'm busy. Hakon, why don't you play for me and then I for you tomorrow?

mfG mitsho

Ah, thx cizzle - seems like I still have something to learn about Dark Age warfare :)

Mitsho - well, OK, tomorrow is Christmas Eve and I'm not going to be likely to get anything done then (Christmas Eve is the big day with presents and family dinner in Norway, unlike US and other countries where it's Christmas Day I believe)

Turn 0 (1250 BC): Army looks good. Shame about the income and science.

IBT: Vet archer is attacked by Spanish reg archer inside Madrid. Wins 3-2 (takes 3 hp, loses 2 hp).
Corihuayrachina catapult -> catapult. Sent to Tiwanaku

Turn 1 (1225 BC): Battle of Madrid: Vet archer loses 1-4 to reg spearman, who is promoted.
Vet archer (3hp) kills reg spearman 3-2.
Vet archer kills reg spearman 3-1.
Vet archer is killed by vet spearmen (3) 1-4.
Vet archer kills vet spearman (2) 2-0.
Battle over, Madrid conquered, three resistors. One of the vets were promoted to elite.
Make a bit of a mess when unloading swordsmen and catapult.
Sliders shifted to 6.4.0 as a result of the Madrid conquest allowing more units at less costs. Lit in 10 turns at +4gpt.

IBT: Spanish move a warrior and an archer next to Madrid. Ooh! Scary...we only have 3 archers plus 2 spearmen in there :p
Tiwanaku galley -> temple, as requested.

Turn 2 (1200 BC): Vet archer (4) attacks reg warrior, is bombarded by archer and lose 1 hp, killed 1-3.
Vet archer (4) attacks reg archer and wins 3-1, is promoted.
Find a blue civ (Germans? stay tuned ;) ) next to Persians.
Load up a galley with swordsmen.

IBT: Our troops have quelled 1 resister (going v. slowly without culture - I'm used to have twice the culture of everybody else) As a result, it riots.
Cuzco swordsmen -> temple (If you'd believe it, it did it by itself!)
Machu Picchu swordsmen -> galley.
Ollantaytambo swordsmen -> swordsmen.

Turn 3 (1175 BC): Vet archer is killed by Spanish reg archer 2-4.
Vet archer kills Spanish reg archer 4-1.
Discover the Maya. We buy Mysticism and 79 gold for Alphabet - gold trouble solved for a while :) Sliders changes to 5.5.0, Literature in 4 turns at -3gpt.

IBT: Nothing.

Turn 4 (1150 BC): More Spanish archer appear outside Seville. Elite archer kill one reg archer 3-3. Change prod in Madrid to Temple (we need culture fast...) I split into 2 divisions - 1 SM, 2 archers, 2 catapults to take Murcia, 3 archers to take Seville. Perhaps too little - time will show.

IBT: 1 resistor quelled in Madrid.
Corihuaraychina catapult -> catapult.
Huamanga worker -> harbor. This may be changed, but IMO those Gems can be very useful on our main continent...but we need a Harbor to ship them over

Turn 5 (1125 BC): Move units.

IBT: Spanish warriors sneak past our 5-man invasion force. As they are no threat to our spearmen in Madrid, they may pass unharmed.
Machu Picchu galley -> swordsman.

Turn 6 (1100 BC): Battle of Murcia: Vet archer kills reg spear (2) 2-1 and promotes.
Elite archer kills cons warrior 2-1.
First naval battle: Reg galley kills reg galley 3-1 (yes, I got lucky, but I think I killed some units too)

IBT: Literature -> currency. A vet archer outside Murcia is killed 2-4. A warrior captures the worker from Murcia.

Turn 7 (1075 BC): As punishment, the warrior is killed 3-0 by our Swordsmen. Sliders back to 6.4.0, Currency in 32 turns at 0 gpt.

IBT: Cuzco temple -> swordsman.
Tiwanaku temple -> GL.

Turn 8 (1050 BC): Zzz.

Turn 9 (1025 BC): Interestingly, our catapults can not move across the mountains. I send a galley down to transport them.

Turn 10 (1000 BC): Vet archer kills reg archer who tried to sneak past outside Murcia 3-2. Elite archer kills reg archer 3-2.
Vet swordsmen is killed by reg spearmen in Seville 1-4 (I hate the RNG!)
Vet swordsmen kills reg spearmen in Seville 3-1.

Post turn rant: The war is going OK. I actually suggest we do not build FP - it seems to work weirdly and we can't risk corruption going up. Build up culture quickly - right now we aren't because we're still in the process of making an invasion force, but sooner or later we'll need it. Elite archer outside Murcia is dead if they have units in there (which I seriously doubt).

No screenshot. It's the last one, but Murcia is razed, Madrid is ours, Cuzco is size 5 and Corihuayrachina is size 2. No other changes to the previous shot.

EDIT: Must not forget save

@gogf...an example

1-4 means he did 1 hp of damage but lost 4
2-0 means he killed someone at 2 damage and lost none
also... hopefully aaminion is still here but if you read back a little bit hakon and mitsho switched turns, so it is actually Mitsho's turn THEN aaminion's

@hakon

you make me proud! truly a heroic norwegian :viking:
i knew taking the capital would result in more $$$ for us! [pimp]
good point on the FP, by the time we take all of Spain, we should have an excessive army, but that just means we have an ample enough force to crush either Persia or Mayans, me thinx persia first only if they DON"T have immortals, what say you team?

i might as well ask this too, should we build (or at least try) GL or just use that for (hopefully) another wonder? I just about crapped myself silly when I read the :viking:s had it, but this is just an open topic discussion....type...thing....

ok i'm downloading the save... let's see what I can do. Conquer the Spanish and fix the culture right?

Mitsho should go whenever he is able to. We'll continue on, and put him in once he gets to his computer. I say yes to the GL. My Conquests is really screwed, it won't load. I'm considering calling Firaxis tech support. Where are the Mayans?

Guys... I need your help.

Bad News: I accidently left one of my cities undefended and the Spanish are about to capture it in 2 turns.

Good News: They're willing to make peace with giving me all their cities, workers, and gold. I have found their capital and have enough swordsmen that I could easily take it out after the peace treaty. Should I accept it and then break it later?

Well, at least accept now, for all the cities, workers, and gold. Maybe you should break it later. Any ideas, anyone? I won't be able to play until fairly later tommorow morning, as Atari live support isn't on until then. Could you post a screenshot, please? I feel very disconnected.

yes, post a screen of the game so far. If only a few units take the city DON"T CAVE IN! keep building swords (and yes, the great library is a must, begin the construction immediately) and then assault them, take city back, and keep hammering away. I feel taking Spain will be imparative to our conquest. It seems we'll have no choice but to make Forbidden palace there so we at LEAST get 10 good cities, cuz think about it, looking at the map you got to figure the AI has control of at least ONE HUGE CONTINENT, right now it could be vikings :(

so in short, don't pass on your game until you post the screen shot :D

Turn 1
975 BC

- We conquer Seville at the cost of 3 hp of a veteran swordsman. I decide to rest up this little part of the army while pushing our Western front Southward.

- Who put this catapult there? It can't get past the swamps or mountains... I'll send it back to Madrid, to assist the next Eastern invasion.

IBT

Spanish archers gather to the South. One of them is shipped via a galley next to Madrid.

Turn 2
950 BC

- Artillery bombardment on the marinearchers fails, but then we attack with our swordsman and.... elite unit :D !!

- We need to settle that island in the west. One location would give us 4 fish, 2 grain, a goody hut, and a shield grassland.

IBT

Seville riots. 2 Spanish archers climb up towards Seville.

Turn 3
925 BC

- Damnit! We lose one swordsman! But another one gets to Seville to prepare for the other attack. About to continue conquest.

IBT

nothing really... they surprising don't attack any of our units even though they can. Stupid AI.

Turn 4
900 BC

- We kill of that dumb archer near Seville. In just 2 turns we'll be completely healthy.

- We destroy Valenica. Next stop: Santiago... as soon as our poor swordsmen heal.

IBT

ZZZ

Turn 5
875 BC

- Next conquest in the west coming up. 3 swordsmen, 2 archers, 4 catapults. Oh my.

IBT

They keep sending troops North... I'm excpecting assault on Madrid... start building spearmen.

Turn 6
850 BC

****... what happened this turn.. I don't remember

Turn 7
825 BC

- Ah, there's Barcelona. It'll be conquered next turn.

IBT

- This is where that cursed galley pulls next to defenseless Seville...

Turn 8
800 BC

- We take over Barcelona :D
- 2 swordsmen, 4 catapults sent to retake Seville after it falls

IBT

- Galley just passes Seville!!! Who'd have thought?? Anyways, this changes things quite a bit. 2 Spanish cities left.

Turn 9
775 BC

- Madrid completes temple :D (I set it to settler so we can settle that island in far west)

IBT

- Turn before we set siege to Santiago, AI pulls archer out of city. Silly AI.

Turn 10
750 BC

- Santiago caputred. Just one Spanish city left and several archers running around.

- I'm pretty sure I messed up the date, but I did not take more than 10 turns.

guys, i've been having this happen to me all over cfc.

For example, when I click on the "get more" link for smilies, I don't get it at all. When I click "Upload" it takes forever and I never get it. When I want to insert the code for an image or bald or whatever, I have to do it manually because it doesn't do it for me no matter how many times I click or no matter how many times I hate.

Is this some sort of setting I screwed up? What's wrong?

ok a couple of things you can do...

1) Keep trying, you never know when you get lucky ;)
2)Upgrade to dsl...quick :rotfl:
3)Go to head guys at CFC and see what they say
4) sigh...pass your glorious turn onto the next player

o woot... 100 posts...im 1/3 the way there [dance]

hmm,I thought it's my turn? But anyway, today is no good day (christmas) and I'll be away for some time after tomorrow. I'll be back the 30th. So, I just wanted to say that I cannot play in this time... :)

mfG mitsho

That's too bad. Guys, I won't be able to play until around 11:00am (EST), but don't count me out, as Hakon (and countless others) have said, "Patience is a virtue." Can you give us a zoomed in screenshot? Please?

EDIT: email address removed, and PMed to aaminion00. I don't want it just floating around.

heh heh... actually it WAS your turn Mitsho, I guess there was just some confusion about what was going on. Now, if aaminion can get his save up, you should try to play within the next few hours before you gots to go. It's only fair so you don't feel left out in the next few days that your gone :goodjob:

Aaminion00: Check your PMs. Once he PMs me the save, I'll upload it. I think Mitsho should jump in whenever he can, but we should not delay the game. So, once he can play, he can get in front of anyone else (except the person who is playing at that moment). If he can't play before me, I'll do what I can. I'm not sure if I'll be able to use civ3 for a while, I'm going to call Atari live support at 12:00 EST.
