Fact: We wnat to try commie before the space race.

Fact: The lux of the eastern hemisphere would help us much.

Fact: Aquiring the complete holdings of any civ would put us dangerously close to domination.

Suposition: We will be able to hold a monopoly on nationalizum for at least 10 - 15 turns.

Propsition: Colonializum.

We want furs, spice gems and tusks.

Furs?
With deft use of temporary cities to infring on borders, we should be able to found a city 3SE of England's Warwick without insiting war. this should be done as quickly as possible as another expantion on Warwick's part will complicate things.

Spices, Gems, Tusks?
All of the other three are held solely by Russia and Germany, and taking them will require war. Frace and England should be easy to ally with, hopefuly creating a endless interAI war which will lessen their ability to pull of a diplo win.

Gems?
With combat settler and a deciant defencive stack, we can plant a city in one of the plains south of Frankfort, giving us multiple sorces of gems and a beautiful choke point just north of Munich. We will probibly need to raze Munich to releave border pressure, and as it will be cut off Frankfort will be easy prey for the French.

Spice?
We need to take either Leipzing or Koningsburg. I prefure Koningsburg due to hill north of it that would be a wonderful place to unload our troops.

Tusks?
Take Pettersburg (easyer said than done I know)
Tusks, check!

I think militarily with lots of riflemen and bombard units we should have little trouble as we are doing little overland travel. Maybe a cavlery pillager core would be useful in takeing the heat off our allies.

Fill the boats when we reach nationalizum and immidiatly research commies. Once everything is in position revolt and land!

Rember this will be under commie, so bring many workers for roads, fortresses and :whipped: .

I see Germany and Russia breaking evan on this; France making sizable gains, and england getting :spank: .

I would love to but I have civ III gold; I've never gotten vinilla to run on it, so advice on this front would be welcome.

Regardless I would be more than happy to help you stratagize, but beware for you listen to the words of a peaceful builder / trader.

I had the same problem with the Civ gold when I first started here. I believe the problem stems from the 1.29 patch. It worked fine to play out of the box but when I patched it it kept asking me to put in the civIII disk. I could not figure a way to get by this so I ended up buying CivIII on EBay for about $10.00.
 
I had that problem with running PTW with the C3C disk, so I don't know if this would work, but I was told to look at the disk files and copy one, then copy that over the original (might want to back up the original first.) It can be found in C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\ if you used the default. Again didn't do it with Gold Edition, it was for something else, so it might not work.

I am really sorry guys, I think I am going to have to drop out of this game, what with work and RL, I just don't have the time to play this SG anymore.

Geopolitical Exercise

I jammed all the relevant measures into a spreadsheet:

Analysis:
In the 200 years from 920 to 1120AD the Good Witch made meaningful gains against the Bad Witch.

Joan has learned her way to the IA while Lizzie still has one tech to go. France's Firaxis score has not surpassed England's yet but the rate of change is now in France's favor from a deficit position. France's cultural gain has gone from even to nearly +50 per turn. The French treasury continues to grow even while France buys and researches new knowledge.

As for the others, Russia, to whom I traded Iron, has gone virtually nowhere, while Germany has continued to progress even though no resource or luxury trades were made to Germany. Making a peace treaty with England was probably to their advantage.

Conclusion:
Luxury trades for cash will accelerate a nation's development while resource trades are at best neutral in their impact, unless the resource is needed to prop up a nation at war.

I have not yet attempted to measure the effect of knowledge trades for either cash or gpt or the effect of any gpt trades at all. Those tactics will be the focus of the next twenty.

I can play but what direction does the team want to take?

Sould we try to build up someone as a useful partner?

Are we wanting to stir up some toruble?

War with England to take out that pesky city?
 
I think I'd rather you not use the GoodWitch/BadWitch as I did some things you do not want to, like automating workers......

Consider the options open:
1) Continue to ratchet the economy tighter and build an unassailable scientific position?
2) Shift gears and start a military build-up for the conquest of the western world?
 
Patiance Misfit, it will flip in time if pump some culture into our attack state.

I favor my colinization plan being impliment soonl; because if we wait our next chance will be with rubber, and then we have to deal with AI MMPs and possibly better navial techs thretining our homeland. Plus if we get lucky now with pillagers, we won't face anything worse than longbows and speaersman. :D

If we found a city on the pink dot and build a temple/libary we we expand the red dot will be in our culture and we can build a city there. We then abbadon pink dot and improve and reinforce red dot.
 
...and if we do get the East at war with it self there is a chance that, when the nukes start falling, they will fall on someone other than us (like our dearest friend Joan d'Arc).
 
Well lets hear from the rest of the clan. Do we want to gear up for some limited warring on the other continent or should we concentrate on a peaceful existance on a straight dash for the stars. Economy -vs- Warmongering.

@TA - I guess if I were to go through all of that trouble I would prefer the direct method of Attacking the English and taking or Raze and replacing a city or 2 to get the furs.
 
But the English would make such a good Punching bag for russia and germany.
 
Saw your notice that a couple of students have dropped out. I've been looking for a succession game on monarch level. Mind if I join?

[edit] Sorry, just realized this was a Vanilla Civ game. I only play Conquests 1.22 now, so I doubt I'd be any good with a vanilla game. [/edit]
