GK2- The Training Day Experiment

@DBear, the way this works the differences between the versions are minimal as the concpets explored work in all versions.....so, think about it , heh?

I just noticed a few things:

Germany has no Iron within its borders and is reliing on french imports. :satan:
Germany's only gunpoweder is near frankfort and would be cut off immedialy under the war plan. :satan:
Russia has no Iron on her mainland. :satan:
Russia's only source of gunpowder is on the coast. :satan:

In typical AI style neither france nor England has built a port. :wallbash:

A fur city would fixt the english trande prodblem.
France....
Maybe we should build a road from Rouen to Coventry. It's on the great salt lake and a city south of Frankfort would serve as a canal.

What ever sall we do? :satan:

Hey Bede, little bit to add on for you on the luxury vs resouces trading... Trading a resource will also cause civs to be friendly, as long as the resource isn't in easy reach. And even if they do attack, their source for the resource is also gone, so they you may get hit with a intial wave of heavy attacks, but within 5-10 turns they should have used up whatever they have. Also, if you have a resource, you are advanced enough to fight against the units that are produced by that resource. I can't remember trading a resource to a civ and have them attack me though, but I have had them attack MANY times to cancel a GPT deal in my favor.

And suggestion for the team on the direction to go: With a contient between you and the AI, and this being on Monarch, you will not see more then a few units that should be easily dealt with, especially if you put a nice garrision of defenders in the coastal cities. During this time, they will turn off research, maybe hire Bill Nye, and will only build units. You on the other hand, will have a full army ready for invasion, and continue your building game unabated while you can practice your warmonging skills on the East. I'm not sure on the tech race at this point in the game, but 1 suggestion... wait until Harbors can connect the contients or else you'll have a hell of a time keeping people in the newly conquoured cities happy.

War isn't possible now, (or at least it wasn't when I last touched it, which was probably about a round ago), but with the current Empire, a decent army should be able to be built within 20 turns, if not sooner. It does suck that there is no port city for you to land troops, but that's easilly fixed by landing your SECOND wave of units with a settler... you can land in someone's culture and as long as you're at war you can build a city in his culture. Put up that city, rush a harbor for 200 gold, and you are already connected. Take the 20 turns, build up, make sure you can trade over ocean tiles, and you'll be ready to do whatever you'd like to the AI over there... just don't wipe them out! This needs to go to Space.;)

PS - Anyone heard from Gangis at all? In any shape or form?

I've not heard anything from Gengis since....August? or was it earlier than that? Anyway nice to hear from you Alerum. I figured you were to busy to stop by here with all of the Aiel taking up your time. I will say that you missed your post by a couple though. :D

@peacemonger

We control our entire continant (except for one stupid english settler that snuck in when we wern't looking) are in the late middle ages. We are now at a cross roads try to deside what to do (with the Eastern hemisphere) untill the space race. I personally found pages 1 - 100 most instructive.

To: all experianced warmongers

What sized invation force would we need for the military objectives I outlined above?

Random thought:
We might be able to beat the east to JSB; maybe we should...

:wavey:, welcome peacemonger. Good to see you dive in.

Brief Summary: Short term objective of continental control is met, except for that pesky little English town.

Medium term objective is build up the economy to support high research rates.

Long term objective is get to Space, after bringing the benefits of Democracy to the the World.

And a big Howdy to Alerum!! How goes it, dude?

I goes rough. Have finals next week and a busy work load even though it's the slow time of year. Hopefully should be able to jump into an SG after the 15th sometime though, so we'll see.;)

Post Game Comments:
This looks like a good date to stop. A nice even number. Well not a mind blowing turnset but some action took place. I did get 5 techs in 8 turns, and 3 of them useful. I have to believe that Reading should have a pretty good chance to flip to us now. I've created a few new cities. The next player should go through and MM the Cities. I did not. Sorry. I think this would be a great time to switch to Democracy for the 150% worker bonus and the Minimal Waste. I'm sorry that I joined some of the workers. I completely forgot about steam until to late. I don't think I have anyone on auto move, but if I do forgive me. I think we should be able to rip some more workers off pretty quickly because we are running out of things to build. When the steam work crews get around Cattaragus make sure you mine some of it's tiles, this city is at size 12 with way to much food. Why doesn't Ganogeh show a granary in the city?
8gpt - WM - 30 gold could be gotten from Russia for either iron or Steam. I wish England would get off her butt and build a Harbor so we can trade for her Furs.

Looking at the save now....

:rotfl:, looks like you been taking lessons from the Profligate Bede. Started in 920AD with nearly 4K in the bank, in eight turns it is <1k, but income has gone up 30% and research 55%....Amazing the kind of results that can get you isn't it?

Roster check:

KayEss - up And here is the save

Everybody please confirm.

I still haven't gotten [civ3] to work so, unless we want to port this to [ptw], I will have to keep my training to lurking and comenting.

Just got back from a trip to London this afternoon. Will start to take a proper look at the save tomorrow.

Anything in particular I should be working on? What's our short-term strat now?

War, or peace, Peace, or war.....

One of the objectives of the trainers was to experience inter-continental war. Doing it with galleons and frigates can expand your logistical skills to the max.....

Another objective was to experience all useful governments: Monarchy, Republic, Democracy.

So, let's put the two together.

Oh, make sure you pick a fight with the guy who can really hurt you....
