Glenn Beck Says Something Smart!!!!!!!!!!

What is the stated rationale behind objecting to these people having their rights read to them?

Remember kids, don't forget to read every word of a sentence. :crazyeye:

This seems to be fairly in line with other things that Beck has said.

I dunno man, all I've heard from him so far has been crazy. This is a dose of sane and coherent.

It's like he took some peyote before the show this time, or something.

Glenn Beck is almost always fair and balanced. That basic fact has been documented over and over again in this forum:

Once they're informed of their rights they'll stop talking. Or, YOU WILL ALL DIE A FLAMING HORRIBLE DEATH IF WE READ THEM THEIR RIGHTS!!! WE NEED TO KNOW WHERE THE ANTHRAX NUKES ARE!!1!

In practice, 90% of people will talk even after they've been mirandized, much to a criminal defense attorney's chagrin.

IMHO though, what's really behind the whole "don't read them their rights shtick" is really just more fear-mongering & politiking from the usual law and order crowd. Especially McCain's recent comments. He needs to dial up the crazy for the upcoming elections in AZ.

but I definitely agree with most of what Glenn Beck says.

You're on a slippery slope my friend, don't listen to radicals.

Or if you continue to listen to him at least balance it out by reading the Huffington Post in a while er something.

Just reading the constant threads in this forum regarding our dear friend, and clicking on the youtube videos now and then might help.

This is a terrible idea

Yeah. In this particular case, I think Media Matters, the Daily Show, and The Young Turks would be much better choices. Huffington Post is typically a bit too mild to really give Glenn Beck the full attention he so richly deserves.

Obviously we should do the opposite of what Glen Beck says. Dude is evil afterall.

Well, notice I put "er something" at the end of the sentence, as a there are more than just the Huffington Post that he could read :)

I agree, mostly because you just reiterated common sense - ie. follow the legal system.

But I don't see why it has international implications. An American attempted to commit a terrorist act in the United States. Where is the external implications in that?

Probably none, unless you are a external sponsor of terrorism and co-opt an American citizen to do your bidding.

He's still wrong. Notice the wording here, and contrast it with his previous opposition to granting suspected terrorists their rights. The difference here is that this guy is a citizen, and Glenn Beck is one of those loonies who think that only citizens of the United States have the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the constitution.
