A Toast

Two days ago the pro-Presidential Party, "Our Home is Russia", introduced a number of legislations into Duma. The first one would restructure the Russian executive branch, giving more power to the President instead of the Prime Minister, and in addition would strip the Duma of its power to apoing a Prime Minister and give it to the President, making the Prime Minister directly subordinate to the President.

"The sky is veiled with grey clouds
Nerves as tense as guitar strings
From night to morning rain is drumming
And time is frozen in eternity.
We assualt from all directions
Tanks, infnatry, artillery's fire
They are killing us, but we keep going
And once again we charge."

The second legislation would amend the Russian Constitution and would take away the power currently held by the subjects of the Federation, such as states, regions, etc. to elect the leader of the local executive government. This power would be transfered to the President, who would now be able to apoint local leaders with aproval of the local legislative branch. Only Autonomous Republics would retain the right to elect their own leaders.

"A toast to life, come on brother, until the end
A toast to those, who were with us back then
A toast to life, come on brother, until the end
We'll remember those who were with us back then"

The last piece of legislature would disband the Russian Security Council. The organization, which Duma had large control over, was composed of the top ministers who decided the fate of Russian Military Operations. Instead of this organization the control over Military is given to the President and his Security Committe which is apointed by the President without any Duma controls. The execution of the orders will go through the Central HQ, also an organization subordinate only to the President.

"The clouds above are made of lead,
The cold mist is all around,
We want to think that all is over
And if only the wounded comrade could survive...
Wait up bro, don't die yet
You will live long and happily
We will dance at your wedding
And you'll raise your kids up in the sky"

The opposition to these proposals came from the Left wing, with former Prime Minister Putin leading it. With slogans such as "Oppose Right Wing Extremism" and "Keep Russia Democratic" he attempted to unite the Left Wing democratic forces and for the most part succeeded. His "United Russia Coalition" was composed of the "United Russia", "Fatherland-All Russia", "Yabloko", and a number of smaller parties. The Communists, for lack of a better choice, also sided with Putin, although not officially joining his Coalition.

"A toast to life, come on brother, until the end
A toast to those who wait for you at home
A toast to life, come on brother, until the end
A toast to those who wait for you at home"

But Putin seems to have misunderstood the general mood of the public. As he went to appeal to them with his calls for "Democracy" and "Freedom" he only found the country in a Nationalistic frenzy with patriotic songs on the streets and every other house having a Russian Flag. No matter where he turned he was branded as a traitor. As the battle in Duma neared Putin's support waned.

"A toast to them, a toast to us
To Siberia and to the Caucasus
To the lights of far-away cities
And to friends, and to love
A toast to them, a toast to us
And to the Paras, and to the Spetznas
To war honors
Come on, lets raise it, friend"

Soviet-style posters begun to appear on the streets. 'Give 110% for the Motherland', 'What did you give your Country today?' and many others. The military begun to run camps and groups for the youth and military style cloths became the new fashion. More and more factories oepend again and the government begun to take an active role in the economy. The nationalistic industrial boom was coming to replace the free private enterprise boom that has carried Russia this far.

"A toast to life, come on brother, until the end
A toast to those who wait for you at home
A toast to life, come on brother, until the end
A toast to those who wait for you at home"

As the Duma battle came Putin made his last appeal to the public and to his former friends in the Duma. He almost went as far as to acuse the President of being a fascist but to no avail, the great popularity of Lebed assured the outcome, as Putin was seen more as a traitor than a champion of democracy. The right-wing parties easily carried the legislation through to the great disapointment of the United Russia Coalition.

"In an old album, I found a picture
Grandpa, commander of Red Army
Signed "For son to remeber, Berlin 1945"
Decades flashed back
The smell of unmawed grass in the dawn,
Moans of earth scorched from bombardements
A pair of old soldier's boots
New wars will replace the old ones "

The President signed the passed bills in his office in Kremlin the next day. He dismissed the Security Council and the Prime Minister and made the apointments the same day. In addition he authorized a number of new projects which the military was in charge of. It was clear that now the military was going to tell the civilians what to do. And all this was happening while a young National Socialist Party of Russia was taking its roots.

"A toast to life, come on brother, until the end
A toast to those, who were with us back then
A toast to life, come on brother, until the end
We'll remember those who were with us back then"

USE troops begin withdrawl from former PRA
A top secret operation only made known to the nation until just recently, the invasion of the PRA, has already begun winding down. After a swift and complete victory against the communist forces, democracy was once again restored to the impoverished West African nations. But that is not all, horrors were found throughout the PRA that had long been either ignored or hidden by the rest of the world. Huge piles of bodies were found of political dissidents and resistors to the corrupt communist regime, reminiscent of the Nazi hollocaust of the 1940's. The President himself addressed the nation comfirming the reports declaring the operation "a true victory against the hated forces of totalitarianism and communism, which are in essences one and the same". USE troops have already begun establishing new governments there, and troops are withdrawing leaving only the necessary forces to keep order in the liberated lands.

Russiam Military in South East Asia

_576418_belgrade300.jpg

The Russian Defence Minister, Igor Sergeyev, has at a press conference today announced future Russian plans for South East Asia. He has confirmned that both the Russian contingent in Indonesia and the Russian contingent in SEAR will be substantially increased and a number of war ships will be relocated to the region. He did not comment on weather these actions were meant to defend Indonesia against a possible attack, or weather it may cause a conflict with SEAR and USE. The only reason given for the military move was "protecting spcial Russian interests."

Critics everywhere speculate about Russian defense of Indonesia

Politicians, critics, everyone is wonder just what the hell the Russians are trying to defend in Indonesia. The Times asked random pedestrians in the streets on their opinions.

"There must be some sort of testing facility, something of extreme scientific importance, otherwise I wouldn't defend such a hellhole" -Manuel Pajero, 48, Engineer

"I bet the Russians are keeping their political prisoners there. Suharto has been known as a mass murderer, I bet some Russians might have "accidentally" found their way there" -Jorge Jimenez, 34, Street Cleaner

"Russians are just a$$holes, their president especially" -Francisco Noriega, 21, Student

"The Russians are defending the hellhole like the British and French did with Africa back in the 1800's. Its about prestige, and a loss now would cost the government of Putin more than he could afford." -Carlita Fraya, 54, Professor of History

"The Russians are reverting back to their communist past, I'm sure soon we'll be seeing far more totalitarian governments popping up in their wake. The only thing i fear is this time we'll have more of a Hitler in their president than Stalin" -Frederick Smith, 34, Businessman

What the Russians truely want out of Indonesia is not completely known, but one thing is sure: They are defintely acting out of their own interests in defending Suharto and his totalitarian regime, and the president is taking a long overdue stand against Russian world-policiing.

President Blair sends out call to all Asian nations and the USE to liberate Indonesia, travels to America

story.blair.pool.jpg

President Blair today sent out the call to many Asian nations, most specifically the SEAR, Vietnam, and Malaysia, to join the USE in the crusade to remove Suharto, remarking that his "totalitarianism and oppression of the people has finally come to an end," and that "all that stands in the way of his removal are the Russians who have chosen to side with the enemies of democracy". When asked whether or not the USE would actually combat any Russians who defend Indonesia, or even attack Indonesia at all with ground deployed forces the President refused to comment, merely remarking "we'll do all that is necessary". He then proceded to take off in his jet to the United States where he is going to meet with the President to discuss the recent developments in Indonesia and Israel.

SEAR STORY SMORGASBOARD!

Of only one story!

The Prime Minister stepped out onto his balcony, and looked at the assembled crowds. Indonesia was aggressive, and now was the time to assert our independence. "Indonesia has attacked Timor!" He roared, angry. "The Russians defend them, sending more troops. And yet, they suppose to send more troops to sit in our country and wait for a time to attack us? We have sat silent far too long, accepting their commands and actions. NOW is the time for action! NOW is the time to band together, to bring PEACE to South East Asia! To our land! NOW is the time for independence! NOW is the time for SEAR!" The masses cheered. He had known this would work. The SEAR was prepared for independence, for the ability to dictate their own choices, and to decide when and where Russia could put forces in the SEAR.

The Foreign Minister walked in time with the Prime Minister towards his office "Is this wise? How is Russia going to react?" The Prime Minister flinched "They'll react badly, but we'll be safe, don't worry. I don't think they want to provoke warfare." He hoped so, anyway...

Blair flies to SEAR, meets with Prime Minister Hawke

With recent proclamations from the SEAR about their official indepence from Russia, no longer being a "puppet" of the nation ever since rebuilding them from their anthrax ridden state many years ago, President Blair has traveled to the nation to offer his support. He gave a short speech alongside PM Hawke:

This is a great day for the SEAR! We finally see the forces of democracy triumph, pulling away from the totalitarian control of the Russian empire, and a return to the pro-USE relations we once enjoyed when Australia was still a member of the British commonwealth. Russia must know that any attempt to disrupt the transition to independence, especially that of a contingent of Russian forces arriving in the SEAR, will result in war with the United States of Europe. Once again, I thank Australians and New Guineans everywhere for their support for the United States of Europe and its stance on recent Southeastern Asian affairs.

Blair will now travel to the CU and malaysia, and is reported to be absolutely exhausted with his travelings.

To Malaysia, CU, Goober, and Philipines

Get on AIM/MSN

The SEAR will allow the new shipment of Russian troops to land on our shores, but only to plan where they'll relocate to. The current number of Russian troops is to be the maximum permanently stationed here at any time.

I'm back silver. mI will get to your PMs tonight, maybe. I've gone through another intensely busy patch, but it sppears over.

And gee, a National Socialist Russia? Hrm, just what the world needs . . . if I were as player in this NES, I'd be thinking "ohhhhh CRAP!" . . .

Lurker's comment: SB, I know it sounds more dramatic that way, but National-Socialism has been rather discredited in Russia, you know. There is a much better name for a far right Russian party, however - "Liberal-Democratic Party". :p

Good translation of the song, though, good stories too.

ooc what the hell? whats up with all these government changes in russia?

I suspect that SB is reacting with radical measures on radical situations.

But the party MUST be Liberal-Democratic!

Stormy I NEED to talk to you on MSN!!!

OOC: This is exactly why I did not want fantasmo to take SEAR. He took a very pro-Russian country and decided to side with my enemies on the first conflict he got involved in.

IC:

By the Russian-SEAR Agreement Russia is allowed to station up to 50,000 troops in SEAR and will do so at Russia's disgression.

No puppet will remain a puppet forever. Sooner or later SEAR would have broken away.

That was OOC BTW.
