GoobNES01: Fallout [Third Thread]

Actually, my friend started it. It pissed Goobsie-darling (:p) off so much I just had to keep it. And now I'm trying desperately to find a substitute.

Lurker's comment: How about "Goobernator" (SB and Gelion are the only ones likely to understand the point of the joke)?

 !!!! and Roddy! :D

*mumbles incoherently under breath*

Well, I used to hate that name, now I just plain don't like it. What is so wrong with Goober? And honestly, if you people spent less time spamming, and more time sending in orders . . . I mean, I could, if I got all the orders by the time I got home tonight, start updating and be finishing by Saturday, instead of starting Sunday. That way, we could go through so many more Updates, and all those projects of your would finish faster, and . . . oh heck, i'm dreaming, and rambling . . .

I've just increased education to 320 and added in majorly succesful modern IRL reforms to it. :) Let's see what it'll do for science.
--------------------------------------------------

"People of the Commonwealth Union. We all agree to the fact that the colonial States should be given the vote. 80% of the vote however was ridicolous, the Government admits it. Proportionately people in New Zealand outnumbers the rest of the Union thanks to the large populational growth due to the large prosperous families in the pre-WW2 era augmented by the financial success of our Union in the post-62 era and a vast amount of immigrants from the European states. [should have been a few million since NZ wasn't even touched by radiation]
The President has listened to Congress and has changed her proposal to an MP system based on every citizen being empowered with an equal amount of influence. A vote in New Zealand will be just as much worth as a vote in Gambia or Guinea-Bissau.
Total democracy has come home to the Union!
[i.e. give in to changes proposed by Congress graciously, they're good ideas after all]

In other news you may look forward to a greatly improved educational system next semester. University tuition will be paid by the state for everyone, an average NZ school will rival if not outstrip the best of Moscow, Nagasaki and Barcelona.

OOC: it shold be the President has listened to Congress and has changed it's proposal the last time i check Congress was part of the CU government ;) Oh and we are sooo offended that you didn't include Shanghai in ur best school thing

Elections Results

Russian political showdown earlier this year between the conservatives in power and the liberals ended up with the disbandment of the Duma and new elections. As predicted this was little more than a show of power by the conservatives and nationalists with the results being the following:

Communist Party of Russia - 9% - 41 seats
"United Russia" - 20% - 90 seats
Union of Right Forces - 4% - 18 seats
Our Home is Russia - 47% - 212 seats
Rodina - 9% - 41 seats
LDPR - 11% - 49 seats

Results released by the Central Election Committee (Goober)

The results were even more devastating for the Liberal forces than the previous election. Putin's shaky union of all the liberal parties in Russia called "United Russia" failed miserably and right after the elections Yabloko, one of the major Russian liberal parties, blaiming Putin for the liberal's defeat, withdrew from the coalition, initiating its collapse. After three more parties left the coalition the Duma makeup looked like this:

Communist Party of Russia - 41 seats
United Russia - 31 seats
Yabloko - 23 seats
Republican Party of Russia - 18 seats
Our Choice - 18 seats
Union of Right Forces - 18 seats
Our Home is Russia - 212 seats
Rodina - 41 seats
LDPR - 49 seats

The split was devestating for the left. In reality, even if the Communists and the URF joined the left wing opposition they still lacked the votes necessary to stop the right wing from pushing through its agenda, and, should LDPR, Rodina and OHIR unite, which seems a very likely possibility, they have a constitutional majority and can re-write the Constitution to fit the needs of the current government.

Former Prime Minister Putin retired from his position as chairman of the United Russia party and according to some reports left for the USA where he has a number of friends steming from his actions during the latter years of his administration, such as the return of Alaska, revokating of military restrictions and the like.

China has many education points?
Or is Shanghai a cornucopia of knowledge IRL? =^_^= I hope the mainland is doing well. Last time I checked Chinese students were all very diligent.

Oh and I feel sorry for Germany's left in politics should ever get really close to attaining power, Panda.

That's what I think too, but I'm a native so I'm waaay biased.
All I know is they work the kiddos to death on rote... well to a certain extent anyway and there are lots more school-related activities then in the 'ole boring standard of public Norwegian education.

Holy Crickery, is anybody scared by the fact that a Nazi Party has the second greatest seat count in the Russian Duma? Gingers, I know Russian politics can we weird, but that is just . . . and that story was weak by your standards, Storm.

Keep them orders a-coming . . .

Ok, I have 4 sets of orders, from Bulgaria, Ivory Coast, the Philippines, and Japan, and 2 other nations NPC'd, which means I am missing orders from 10 nations.

I do wish to hint to you all that doing a mass-production military project will significantly reduce costs, but not necessarily time, over the one-time only Military Increases.
