Russian War Administration
As predicted, the moderate and reform-minded cabinet that was created after the elections was sacked almost as soon as Putin reseived emergency powers. The new apointments left no doubt as to Russia's position on the matters in the world.
The skillful negotiator and diplomat Ivanov, who was a liberal and pushed for a political resolution to all conflicts, and was the main figure in Russia's negotiations with other governments was dismissed without explanations. In his place came an ex-KGB general Sergey Lavrov. Loyal to Putin and a Russian nationalist, as opposed to his predecessor he does not want to see a political solution and instead wants to see a triumphant Russia in this war.
A politician Mironov, who was the Minister of Internal Affairs, was replaced by General Rushailo. This hard-line general acting as the head of MVD will most likley result in harsher state control over citizens, less crime, and superiority of police forces. Unlike Mironov who never arrested anyone without evidence, Rushailo is known for being rather arbitrary.
A very strong Nationalist, he served as the Federalist representative in Duma. Now, this hard-liner will replace the aged Andropov as head of the KGB. He was quoted as saying "to hell with everything if Russians are ok."
A personal friend of Mr. Putin. This KGB officer has proved himself to be a very resourceful military commander already, and will not replace the aging Mr. Zhukov as the Secretary of the General Staff of the military. He is a fierce patriot and has pushed for quick and brutal responce against the AF attack on Russia.
Replacing the liberal Khristenko, who pushed for small industry and consumer goods production is an anything-but-liberal Ustinov. An army general, he is given the ministry of Industry and Energy, and his job is very clear - to make a fighting machine out of Russia as soon as possible.
