Ok, the stats are all back to normal. I have added every single nation, I think. I have a bit more tinkering to do with them, but they are pretty damn close to being done. I have excluded some of the really small nations, like Trinidad and Tobago, simply 'cause they are, well, just too small! But, everything seems good to me. Oh, and I made everything into Spoilers, for your convenience!
That would be West Timor, and belongs to the Netherlands.
Still working on finishing some scraps up regarding the update, and I have a whack of diplo to reply to. Just need to finish off some HW.
One other thing. I have already been getting orders and stories coming in, I can update next Wednesday or Friday, my Thursday is a VERY long day. I would prefer Friday, and that sounds most realistic. It all depends on y'all though.
Chapter 2 - The Aftermath
Less than half a year had passed since the fateful day, but the whole world had already been turned upside down. 'New World Disorder' would be an apt term for it, Tun Abdul Razak thought. He and his country had survived six months as everyone around the world tried to come to terms with the aftermath of nuclear war.
There was good, and there was bad. Some nations had decided that war should stop and even proposed the reformation of the UN. Japan was foremost in this proposal and Tun Abdul Razak had already agreed to it.
However, other nations had decided to take advantage of the nuclear war, expanding their imperialistic ambitions to annex more lands.
It was dissappointing. In his time, even before the fight for Independence, he had thought the people of the Third World would understand what it was like to be stepped underfoot by imperialists, but when the yokes were taken off, they turned imperialist too. Abdul Razak sighed. Perhaps it wasn't all in vain. Even now, he was planning on an economic alliance with Indonesia and the Phillipines, which would probably prove that the world wasn't all that bad..
The doors of the Prime Minister's office opened and the Indonesian Ambassador stormed in, while the Prime Minister's aide walked after him, clearly flustered by the Ambassador.
"To what do I owe the honour of this visit, Mr. Ambassador?" Tun Abdul Razak asked in his perfectly trained diplomatic voice.
"Indonesia demands that you submit to us and that we can annex Malaysia. Soekarno's government recognises the 13 states of Malaysia as rogue provinces and want annexation."
Razak's eyes narrowed, just slightly. He understood that slight nuances in diplo-speak had great differences in meaning. A mere difference in tone carried great implications. This Ambassador had used "Soekarno's government". Perhaps...... And inwardly, Tun Abdul Razak smiled.
"Tell your leader that Malaysia and her people wish to maintain their hard-gained Independence. Any threats will constitute an act of war against Malaysia and we shall show no mercy in our defence."
"I shall convey this message to Soekarno's administration. They would not be pleased.."
Again, using "Soekarno's government" instead of "my government". This man is trying to disassociate himself.. Yes.
"We shall recall Malaysian diplomats from the Indonesian mission. I believe you should do the same."
And the meeting was over. The world. Yes, there were the cruel imperialists, one of which was knocking at his own doorstep. But there still was hope. People still believed in the survival and the independence of states. Tun Abdul Razak glanced over to his secretary, who mumbled an embarrased apology.
"You shouldn't worry too much about it, Mahathir. Sometimes, even the Ambassadors themselves don't know what they or their bosses are doing.."
When Mahathir gave a confused look, Tun Abdul Razak just continued with a chuckle, "Draft up a letter to my dictation. Address it to the Indonesian Ambassador.."
Chapter 3 - Confrontation
The ambassador's name was Soeharto. He didn't really like the idea of Indonesia's President causing war with Malaysia. His tenure in this country had showed just how well a democracy could work. People were chanting support on the streets, for God's sake! And he knew this wasn't something meant to impress the international community. After all, how many international correspondents are left? This was real...
And now? He was recalled. Not expelled, but recalled. Simply because Malaysia did not want to begin a war. He wished that he could do something, anything about it. War wasn't something that appealed to him. He had seen that the citizens of Malaysia were hardened from fighting the Communist Terrorists for 12 whole years. The experience couldn't have faded as it merely ended two years ago.
Soeharto sighed. He didn't want blood to be spilled (OOC: This was a real quote from Soeharto in 1998 when he stepped down as President, BTW ) but he had to follow President Soekarno's orders. It was then when a letter came into his house, hand-delivered by the novice aide of Tun Abdul Razak.
"The Prime Minister would like you to reply through me," the aide managed to stutter out. And he opened the letter.
SpoilerTo the Indonesian Ambassador :
Dear Soeharto,
In our discussion today, I believe that you are like me and do not wish for a military confrontation between the Federation of Malaysia and Indonesia. However, it is probably unavoidable unless the truth could be brought out to the Indonesian people.
As such, I would need your help in preventing this terrible war. Indonesian troops outnumber Malaysians, but I believe we will fight with more ferocity and the results will probably be stalemate with huge losses on both sides.
I need your help.
In fact, I implore it.
I plan to make a statement to the Malaysian people as well as the Indonesian people in one week from now regarding the military confrontation. If you can help influence the radio operators in Indonesia to relay my speech, which will be on all Malaysian channels, during their air time, we may be able to prevent war from occuring. Needless to say, you will gain a lot of influence in Indonesia as well.
My aide, Mahathir will take your reply back to me, be it oral or in writing.
Please, look upon this favourably. The lives of the Malaysian and Indonesian people are in your hands now.
Yours sincerely,
Tun Abdul Razak,
Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Perhaps God still loved the world. There was a chance. And Soeharto would try his best.
He looked up to the aide and said, "I will do it."
Twenty minutes later, Mahathir relayed Soeharto's words to Tun Abdul Razak. A sigh of relief. Perhaps he had a chance after all.
The Japanese had proved highly cooperative. They were sending in a team of radiation cleaning specialists to teach his troops how to clean up radiation and perhaps help the nearby nations with their radiation problem. Perhaps he could send them to the Phillipines for now..
Chapter 4 - Of the Proper Propagation of Profound Propaganda
The threat of war was not something that could be taken lightly. And now, Tun Abdul Razak was sitting in front of a radio microphone - again - and trying to prevent an all out one. He hoped that Soeharto managed to do his job. And so, he began: -
"People of Malaysia. One week ago, the President of Indonesia, Soekarno, has decided that we are a rogue state of Indonesia. They have even threatened military confrontation. As such, this radio transmission is also being relayed to the Indonesian people as I speak.
I believe that we have no desire for war. Not me, not the people of Malaysia, not the people of Indonesia. I believe that these desires are only the imperialistic ambitions of a dictator who wishes to see all people suffer under his hand.
I have already publically stated that all Malaysia wants is a mutually beneficial economic alliance with the nearby regions, and as such, Phillipines, New Zealand, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia are all members of a newly formed SEATO. Nations in South-East Asia and Australasia are invited into this economic cooperation program where SEATO-wide projects can be initiated with the aim of benefits to all members.
However, that is another topic. The point is, the Indonesian government has rejected our offers of assitance, both economic and educational and has even gone so far as state that "Indonesia does not need help from a rogue province that shall be his anyway". This was in response to our offers to help clean up the terrible radiation cloud in Palembang and Samarinda.
As such, until the threat of war is gone, we do not wish to enter Indonesian soil in case Soekarno calls it a 'provocation to war'.
Clean up teams will be sent to Manila to aid our new Filipino allies, instead, of course, subject to the agreement of the Filipino government.
People of Indonesia. I do not know what propaganda has been fed to you by Soekarno's government. But let me tell you this. Malaysia has no intention of going to war with Indonesia but if we are invaded, we will fight back, much as a mother bear fights to protect her cubs.
Do not spend your lives against Malaysians who never wanted to cause the Indonesian people any harm. I implore you.
And to the people of Malaysia, citizens and residents alike, do what you do best. If you are a businessman, invest in Malaysian industries to further improve our economy. If you are a labourer, work as hard as you can to produce superior Malaysian products. If you are a student or scientist, work hard to develop new technologies so that we may be a more intelligent nation. If you are a famer, work hard to produce more food for the nation. And if you are a soldier, or even a simple citizen who is none of the above. Join the armed forces and protect your mother country against imperialist intruders. Do not think this as conscription. No. This is not an obligation but we do hope that you do your utmost to serve your country. To serve Malaysia.
Many had believed that a multi-racial nation like ours wouldn't work. As a matter of fact, having an almost equal number of the three races, Malay, Chinese and Indian, was a British technique at 'divide and conquer'. However, things have changed. I hope that we are a united people, through both adversity and prosperity. Do not look at ourselves by our race. For we are one race. We are Malaysian. And by doing our utmost at the skills we are best in would do well to serve the interests of the nation as well as yourselves.
Thank you. And may God, Allah, or the deity that you believe in bless you."
"How do you make such speeches, sir?" Mahathir, who was silent for the entire five-minute speech, stared in awe. Tun Abdul Razak was the type who made impromptu speeches which made him all the more admirable.
"It takes practice. But telling the truth makes things much easier.."

to Sir Robert Menzies,
Prime Minister of Australia.
We would like to formally invite Australia into SEATO. The charter is as mentioned in the attached document (OOC: above! above!).
We hope that you reach a favourable conclusions.
Yours,
Tun Abdul Razak,
Prime Minster of Malaysia,
on behalf of the SEATO.
to Diosdado P. Macapagal,
President of the Phillipines.
Malaysia would like to request permission for Malaysian troops to land on Filipino soil to help out with the cleansing of the radiation cloud on former Manila once we complete training our chemical corps.
As a gesture of goodwill, we shall pay for the cleaning of radiation and do the job ourselves.
Yours,
Tun Abdul Razak,
Prime Minster of Malaysia.
to Samnang Phirun,
Leader of the Khmer Alliance.
Greetings,
While we do not approve of your militaristic approach to government, the people seem to like your government. As such, we recognise the Khmer Alliance as the legitimate government of Burma.
However, we would like to have your assurance that Thailand's soveriegnity would not be violated in any way. In exchange, you will have Malaysian, and probably (OOC: gotta talk with the nations first) SEATO recognition of your Alliance as well as entry into SEATO, subject to the agreement of other governments.
Are these acceptable terms?
Yours,
Tun Abdul Razak,
Prime Minster of Malaysia.
From West Germany, Norway, Sweden, and Finland,
To Denmark,
We will not join you, but we would like to work together with you against the Spanish, who are a threat to the whole of Europe, and must be stopped. And also, perhaps some Economic and Military treaties?
OOC - Feanor. I realize that you posted that before you realized that Portgual and the UK no longer exist, and their colonies are in Complete Anarchy, which means basically no civil order at all, mass chaos, looting, pillaging, basically total social breakdown, and humans return to their primitive side. They are free for the taking, if you can regain order. Many of the UK troops have gone to South Africa already, seeking refuge. Your Project idea, I need to talk to you about cost, turns, etc. over MSN, but it will be high, because of the immensity of the task. And most European nations are more worried about the Spanish then the Radiation.

NPC Nations who laugh at the idea of the UN, and refuse to join:
Mexico
Yugoslavia
Greece
Hungary
Indonesia
Afghanistan
Tunisia
Morocco
Bolivia
NOTE - Those nations that refusaed to join are mostly crazy dictators, or don't see the point in the UN, or have ulterior movites that makes the UN a bad thing for them. And a couple do not like the idea of the UN being in Nagasaki. The ones that are undecided, their main beef is that they want to ensure that 5 nations do not have the veto, that the veto power is shared. Also, they are interested in re-joining the UN, but unsure if it will actually get off the ground, unsure about the location, or their Governments are in just too much chaos for them to make a concrete decision. And yes, there are 2 nations with the name "Republic of the Congo". The big one will get renamed Zaire in a couple years.
From the Philippines,
To the Malaysians,
We agree wholeheartedly with your proposal. Yes, we do need help in reclaiming our capital city fromm this wretched pollution. In the case of an attack by Indonesia, and that wretched dictator, we would be more then happy to assist you.
Brazil would like to join the UN. Sorry if we did not say it so far. Brazil also wishes to say that our lands were untouched by the blasts and we have plenty of space for refugees esp. from Portugal or Spain. We also welcome scientists from every nationality.
EDIT: If there were any diplo regarding South America please let us know. Brazil would like to be informed and supports all good enterprises.
I do not consider our actions militaristic, we are just finishing off the corrupt Burmese government that has oppressed our people for so long.
As for Thailand, we were planning on dealing with them later on, however we are more interested in joining SEATO at the moment. I can indeed assure you no harm will come to them, we don't have the military power to take on more than one nation anyway.
To UN
the RSA would like to Join the UN as Representative of the African Commonwealth
To SEATO
The African Commonwealth Welcomes the Alliance Initiative of the Asian nations, we hope that The African Commonwealth and SEATO will be able to cooperate in the near future.
However the African Commonwealth is concerned by the Lack of some of the most important Asian nations in the Aliance, we fear that without Cinese and Indian membership the Alliance might be doomed to fail, as the League of Nations did in Pre WW2 times.
Thailand is in India's sphere of influence any action taken against it will translate into action taken against India.
To the terroist rebel sepreatist state of West Pakistan
It is over you have lost. Surrender and become a semi-autonomous state under Greater India or we will move in and crush any semblance of independence that you may have and your people will be slaves to us.
To British Troops in Maldives
Surrender to India and hand over the colony to us or else we will invade and kill you all Imperialist Scum. Surrender and you will be well treated and we will strive to reunite you with your country.
We will review these nations and look into accepting them into SEATO, although right now we do not like how some nations are attempting to grab more and more land forthemselves.
Alright, Gelion, all that you really missed was the SADETO, the South American Defense and Economic Treaty Organization, details on the first page, 6th post.
Anybody can join the UN, if Pande could sent me a complete list, including the NPC nations that wish to join, and simply detail how you propose to change the UN CHarter, if at all, and I shall decide if any of the undecided NPC or NPC's which said no shall join.
Any former colonies held by the UK or Portugal, or any other nations taht no longer exists, they are in states of Complete Anarchy, with no Government, and some variou armed factions trying to take control. If the Maldives was a colony of the UK, then that is the state that it is in, and I obviously cannot respond for it, silver.
Also, there is no effective Government is East pakistan, but the people there generally go not want to be part of India, the common sentiment is that they left for a reason. Again, I cannot answer for a Government as the lack of one, but that is the common sentiment of the people.
About the next update, the days that are good for me to update are Wednesday or Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. I currently have 4/16 Orders. Whenever you guys want an update works for me.
Brazil proposes to veto the entry to the UN of USA and USSR. The counitres that made the world suffer such a great deal should pay it before being allowed to apply. Brazil did not suffer herself, but think about the MILLIONS of people that died! Should't their faith tell us something? What does USSR have to say about the holocost that it organised for our planet? And the conequences are still upon us and they will grow. How will USA and USSR repair the damage done to the world?
Your self-rightousness is disgusting. You know not of the horrors of this nuclear winter, for you have not experianced it first hand. Food, and water are valuble commodiaties now, a home is a far off dream. The Time of petiness is over, now all the world must unite, and forget past mistakes or the world will fall into horrible anarchy and death, if it hasn't already. In the words of Arbaham Lincon, "Divided we fall, united we stand."
This world must be rebuilt, by force if necessary. The United States will rebuild, with or with out the help of the world.
