Goths (BtS 3.19; V1.0)

For the goth's cities, I would suggest :

Tolosa (first visigoth's capital. Use Tolosa instead of Toulouse as in your first version. Toulouse was only named as its french name in around 1800)
Reccopolis (founded by Visigoths)
Victoriacum (founded by Visigoths)
Lugo id est Luceo (founded by Visigoths)
Ologicus (maybe founded by Visigoths)
Baiyara (maybe founded by Visigoths)
Theodoricopolis (maybe founded by the ostrogoth Theodoric )

Visigoth's main cities (using this map, this map or this map) :
Toletum (second visigoth's capital)
Tarraco
Emerita
Hispalis
Basti
Arelate
Narbona (or Narbo Martius or just Narbo. It seems it's about 600/700 AD that Narbo became Narbona)
Bracara
Caesaraugusta
Massilia (or Massalia)
Segobriga
Valentia
Corduba
Diarsum
Urci
Scalabis
Salmantica
Auca
Asturica
Lucus
Clunia
Barcino
Gerunda

Ostrogoth's main cities (using this map or this map) :
Ravenna (Ostrogth's capital)
Padova (or Padua)
Arminium
Ancona
Aquila
Verona
Taurinum
Mediolanum
Genua
Roma
Napoli
Perusia
Syracusae
Panormium
Pisae
Siscia
Faventia
Salonae

Very nice, thank you. I will adjust add as needed. I will not be adding the obvious Roman cities, even though in all fairness, they did conquer Rome! But, I don't want repeats of Rome, Napoli, Panormium, etc.
So, at first glance, I am thinking the following:

Tolosa - should be this way in current DL
Reccopolis - should be this way in current DL
Victoriacum
Lugo id est Luceo - should be this way in current DL
Ologicus - should be this way in current DL
Baiyara - should be this way in current DL
Theodoricopolis - should be this way in current DL
Toletum (second visigoth's capital)
Tarraco
Emerita
Basti
Arelate
Narbona
Bracara
Massilia (or Massalia)
Segobriga
Valentia
Corduba
Diarsum
Urci
Scalabis
Salmantica
Auca
Asturica
Lucus
Clunia
Barcino
Gerunda

The shopping mall is a bit lame, but I honestly can't think of a better idea off the top of my head. If I were to make an American civ from scratch I'd probably give it some type of air unit as its UU, the only problem is the game is pretty limited in what you can do with air units so I wouldn't want to go in that direction either. Someone suggested an early Marine unit (maybe replacing Grenadier). I agree that, in civ terms, the Navy SEAL is kinda stupid. It's not like there are huge armies of Navy SEALs, which is a possibility in Civ.

The Minuteman is another possibility, but it has been done to death and to be honest I don't really think they were much of a great force anyway. I mean, they were notorious for retreating and weren't well-displined enough in my opinion to be a UU.

I remember posting a suggestion of changing the Grenadier to an American Gunslinger.
A "Billy the Kid" type of unit with 2 revolvers. Perhaps, a Grenadier with 2 first strikes?
I realize these were not truely abundant, or used to defeat armies, but, it has become an icon of American culture since the 1800s, and very well known world wide.

I was thinking a Factory with +50% Aircraft production.
America did build a huge number of bombers and fighters (B-17s, B-52s, P-51s etc)during the World Wars.
Building this and the Airport would give them more aircraft to defend their coast and carriers with.

Also:
Since, The Goths defeated Rome After Rome came to power and conquered other lands. It would make since that the Goths should have a varient of the Maceman.
Perhaps, the image can be mounted-like, similar to the Immortal. Instead of increasing their military production, I would simply make their maceman unit 25% cheaper, and only require Copper.
This way you can pump them out and take out swordsman easily.

Making them based on the horseman, creates their unit before the unit they are suppose to be able to conquer.
Consider, The Mongolian Empire was the largest Empire in History, even to this day. Yet, you are setting up the Goths in the same time period, and with the possibility to defeat the powerful Mongolians.
This might be why, Numidian Calvary is a Base 5 unit.

The Goths did defeat a weakened Roman Empire, but, they didn't create an empire that lasted several centuries or more and are indeed gone now. We need to keep them in perspective.

Techs were not discovered by all groups by the same time... so this is ok. If you beeline IW, as Rome, you get the Praets VERY early, well earlier than history... and well earlier, in most cases, than Horse Archers.

I kind of agree with what you are saying, but I didn't want to Goths to remain powerful later into the game, because the macemen stay relevant for some more centuries. Therefore, I couldn't make it knights, because their window was way later. If anything is broken, I think it is the Praet...

The Mongols were the largest land empire, not the largest empire. I don't think that the Goths can crush them, because the Goths advantage is so specific to only swordsmen/praets... which the AI doesn't spam like a human does (with praets anyhow)...

Anyhow, the goths were toned down quite some time ago. If play testing dictates they need to be toned down further, let me know and I will do that.

A great selection of civs you have made, kochman. I eagerly await for your Genoa civilization :)
Thanks!
I guess I might want to take Genoa out of the equation... my old HD with them crashed, resulting in my loosing a bunch of stuff.
I will check to see if I have it still, I might... In the meanwhile, the House of Savoy is almost the same thing when it comes down to UB, traits, even cities! Genova was just more powerful BEFORE the Savoy...
