GOTM 31 Pre-Game Discussion

Well, it is mean indeed.

But with a little effort you can still make out at least two BGs (I think) and a hill with Olives... :p

EDIT: Of course, at this point it is obvious that I will immediately start mining with the worker and move the Settler 1SE...

Here ya go. ;)

You know what... Forget the olives, but the rest could actually be the first demonstrated instance of clarvoyance...

And, no, I swear, I knew nothing of this map.

Tres Bein. ;)

Bon nuit, tout le monde. C'est vingt-deux heure et demi, et je vais dormir. :)

Just practising. LeSphinx might want to correct my grammer it a lot bit.

Nice call, Karasu!

I think that SE will put the Settler on a coast (unless we're looking at lots of lakes here). People who don't want a capital on the coast, might want to move the worker S first -- the setup spot looks pretty good as is for a non-coastal capital.

By the way, that settler looks French to me--that might affect my decision to move, if SE is a coast tile.

no, no, time to wake up again! we're are playing the French - on a std. sized map in Emperor diff. !!! whew, that took a lot of guessing and urging ainwood to come up with the starting info.

Well ! ainwood gave us the both images!
Great! It's hard because he plays with fun with our nerves!

So we have:
-standard map
- french (seeing the colour)
- emperor level

French are commercial and industrious.

King Of America, I not sure moving SE is a costal site.
I was thinking of moving S ; Look to me it will be near a cost.

No grassland with shield around : seem we will have production problems in the beginning.

I hope it's not a region with lot of lakes and this region have a coast access.

What do you think of the French UU ?
For me ,it's not so usufull and good than other UU

I'm not familiar with that gfx mod ainwood is using. Do those little white blobs on the tiles (NW, N, NE, E, S & SW-SW) mean bonus grass? Or is it just my dodgy eyesight? :)

Erh? There are 7 visible shields...let go of that wine bottle, mate. :)

Thanks Trickster. Welcome to CFC and GOTM :band: [dance], your first post and you use it to answer my question!

Dianthus, thnx.
By the way, u also have a nice number of posts - 499. ;-)

And question to ALL: Are there any global changes in units stats for this GOTM? Like speed up naval units or new resourses, as in some of previous GOTMs?

Trickster [RUS], thanks for your remarks.

As ainwood do not mention something about the naval deplacement and new ressource, I presume everything will be as the other GOTM.

See last month GOTM Thread
http://gotm.civfanatics.net/games/gotm30_features.shtml

Movement Cost for "Coast": increased to three (3) move points per tile
Movement Cost for "Sea": increased to two (2) move points per tile
Movement Cost for "Ocean": unchanged at (1) move point per tile
Naval movement rates for all units are DOUBLED (example: Galleys and Junks are now 6)

If something is new, We will know on the 1st of may! Maybe tomorow very very late.... ;-)

@Trickster,
There should be no modifications to the last GOTM features. That is, the global changes you mention are still there as they were introduced a few months ago.

BTW, I think I will really move 1SE -it looks like the settler is sitting on a BG. True, the tile 1S1SE may not be a coast tile -but I will never know until I actually have the save...

I also think, that best position for 1st city will be 1SE or just as settler stands now. Main question for me is this tile at SE coastal or lake?
Dear Russian Scout, if u ever know how i miss you in suh cases.. ;-)

let's see... fresh water available; coast nearby; 7BG's and starting on a BG...

looks like we got some work to do! :) good thing we're ind. or all that mining would take forever!

having the fresh water and assuming that the coast is SE, this really looks like a prime wonder building location. perhaps an early colossus for us??? if only i could be so lucky...

If you want to build lot's of wonders maybe it would be better to settler W, then settler SE for the 2nd city as the wonder builder. That would allow Palace as a pre-build.
