Goz6 - 4 x 4

Progress report - Rome is a pile of rubble. It was razed by the People's Republician Army. I'll have the game up tomorrow.

Pre–flight – 1250 AD – Spot a Roman settler pair. Kill the defending spear and collect two slaves. I execute the steal with the Incas for 1156G and we now have communism. We overthrow the government and get four turns of anarchy. MM our cities to minimize gold loss and maximize food.

IBT – Maya declares on Aztecs. New York builds a temple.

1. 1255 AD – Continue pillaging around Neapolis, however, I am going to try and join our army up with our Rome attack force.

IBT – Lose a cav in our Rome marching stack. A lone cav is dropped off next to Chicago.

2. 1260 AD – The Roman is dispatched and we move closer to Rome. Our army is joined with the stack.

IBT – Watch an Incan town get autorazed. Monty doesn’t want to renew the MA against Rome. Seems he didn’t like the idea of paying 8gpt for the deal. He will instead pay 7gpt.

3. 1265 AD – Load up some cavs on the mainland, retreat two cavs with zerks, march next to Rome.

IBT – We retreat two cavs and kill a third with our southern Roman task force. Several potential defenders leave Rome. We become a People’s Republic.

4. 1270 AD - @ Rome – There are five rifles defending. All but one are yellow-lined. We lose two cavs in the assault, but Rome is razed. We capture five cannon and 11 slaves. We’ll be healing for the next several turns.

Commie give our economy a nice boost with dramatic reduction in corruption. We’re below the OCN for communism, so we’re in great shape. I use some obsolete units for MP duty and lux goes to zero. We can’t build the SPHQ yet.

IBT – Lose a rifle in the southern task force.
Copenhagen: zerk=>zerk
Oslo: rifle=>bank

5. 1275 AD – Unload move units on our southern task force.

IBT – Lose another rifle on the southern task force.
Reykjavik: factory=>harbor

6. 1280 AD – Begin marching on Caesaraugusta with the southern task force.

IBT – Lose a rifle and a cav from STF.
New York: zerk=>cav
Houston: factory=>cav
Mayans build ToE.

7. 1285 AD – Healing and marching. The Mayans are starting to chew up the Aztecs. Monty is now down to three cities.

IBT – Lose another rifle. A settler pair moves to replace Rome. Six cavs are dropped off.
Washington: cav=>cav
Reykjavik: harbor=>cav

8. 1290 AD – I kill three of the invaders, lose a cav and two horses.

Kill the rifle and gather two more slaves at the ruins of Rome. Begin marching on Neapolis.

IBT – Renew the peace treaty with Cleo. The stack of Roman cavs attack the Incas. STF is down to a few units with numerous attacks due next turn.
Chicago: cav=>cav
Copenhagen: zerk=>zerk

9. 1295 AD – Extract our southern force. Kill a Roman cav.

IBT – Renew our furs deal with Cleo, but I have to throw in silks.
New York, Stockholm: cav=>cav

10. 1300 AD – Nada.

After Action – I’d keep the pressure on Caesar. He’s the biggest bully on the block. Raze Neapolis, or maybe keep it for a turn or two to heal up then raze it. I wouldn’t hold it too long due to the flip risk. We may want to plan another coal extraction move, but that is up to the team. We may have to go to war with the Mayans soon since they are becoming the technological gorilla here.

Preturn- We look good.

IT- zzz

T1 1305

Move the stack towards Neapolis.

IT- We finish Military Academy.

T2 1310

We burn Neapolis. I think it is high time we get to slowing down the Maya, so I bring an end to the Roman madness. In the peace deal I swap Industrialization for Electricity.

IT- We catch Smoke trying to plant a spy.

T3 1315

I attempt a Careful steal on the Maya and it blows up with them declaring war.

IT- zzz

T4 1320

I sign an RoP with Rome to move our troops across his land.

IT- zzz

T5 1325

I send two luxes to Rome for Coal. Then even with wines I have to pay Egypt 52gpt for iron, but I do it. Mass railroading commences.

IT- Maya brings in Egypt against us, costing us our iron and furs.

T6 1330

I lose an obscene amount of cav on one redlined rifle, but I raze the Egyptian city of Buto. I now pay Rome 57gpt for Iron. Railroads commence again.

IT- zzz

T7 1335

Not much

IT- zzz

T8 1340

Not much again.

IT- zzz

T9 1345

We raze Busiris.

IT- zzz

T10 1350

I just now realize that our army has four units inside it and can't leave the Roman continent until we learn Combustion.

Summary

I have another army building in Trondheim. This one should filled with only three cavs so it will fit on a galleon. We will have to move at least one ship back to get it. I'll leave our navy unmoved to facilitate the next players plans.

KB - smart move. I agree that war with the Maya is the next logical step.

Preflight check: I haven’t played enough of these xCC games, but why do we keep letting civ’s build back up before eliminating them? Rome is as big as ever.
At war now with Egypt and Maya, and I have 2 zerks and 5 cav’s in range of the Mayan? I’m very frustrated with this, and probably just too tired to play, but it’s probably all due to the fact I’m not used to this kind of game.
After my head stops spinning, I realize that the core is toast unless I get stuff back and defend.
Move the galleons back after loading all the cannon I can.

Lose a cav but take the Egyptian town of Hieraconpolis.

IBT: 1 cav defends against Egyptian cav on mountain near Trondheim.

T1: 1355AD RR some stuff, healing the few cav we have in the FP group.

IBT: Our Roman worker Galleon is badly damaged by a Mayan Frigate.

T2: 1360AD Lose 3 cavs but get a GLeader by attacking the Egyptian city of Lisht

T3: 1365AD Badly damage an army taking down an Egyptian inf and rifle in Kahun, but do so and raze the town. Badly damage the other cav army, killing 2 rifles in Aysut and razing that town as well.

T4: 1370AD

IBT: Lose our worker ferry to a Mayan Frigate.

T5: 1375AD Armies rest.

IBT: Inca and Maya MA vs us. Mayans complete Shakespear’s

T6: 1380AD Kill an Incan infantry near Oslo. Lose a cav trying to kill another that was redlined.
Western army moves out for Mayan towns.
Eastern army dies trying to kill a rifle in the Egyptian town of El-Amarna. Raze the town, killing the rifle and a spear.

IBT: Lose our frigate to a Mayan frigate. Mayans drop off 6 infantry, 1 cav, and 1 rambo’s near Birka of stuff in the West. We catch the Mayan’s trying to plant a spy.

T7: 1385AD Raze the Mayan town of New Chichen Itza, redlining the army and losing 1 cav. But we get 4 slaves.

IBT: Birka holds well, with 2 infantry, 1 cav, and 1 rambo dead, and none for us. The 4 other infantry spread out, probably to pillage.

T8: 1390AD We can get peace with the Inca + Espionage for almost all our gpt and gold but I hold off for now.
Lose a bunch of cav’s trying to kill 2 infantry in Avaris :(

T9: 1395AD Lose an elite* cav to a rifle near Oslo. Kill the redlined rifle with an elite cav.

T10: 1400AD Mayan are too hot to handle. They drop off another impressive stack, this time near Stockholm. It consists of 5 infantry, 2 rambos, and 1 cav. Inca drop off 2 infantry, and CS, and a Rambo there as well.
Next player should sign peace with the Mayans. Military moves are still available so next player can make deals and kill off the Inca. Need another town to build another army, but I wanted to finish the Coal plant in Trond 1st.

I'm up in this too? :eek:

Carlos is still gagged I suppose, so if you have time Bede, I wouldn't mind a swap.

I check in tomorrow for a got it/not :)

Carlos is gagged again? *holds chest in shock* OK there. I'm over it.

g-man - Keeping the land clear is one of the challeneges of an XCC game. It is often one of the reasons folks will go for a space, 20K or diplo win. Usually you want to try and keep the other civs as balanced as possible so no one runs away.

back!

phew!

EDIT: arrgh, please skip me, jsut realized that I will need to drive 100 miles to fetch my skiing gear tonight. Back monday.

Pre-turn - Make peace with Maya for 159g and WM.

Kill 4 Incan units.

3 cities still lack temples? Change to that. Remember in XCC we need culture and those temples should've been built ages ago. And when we get the right to build hospitals we need all happiness possible, but that is far away.

1405AD - Take out the 3 Incan toans on our continent, keep Huaras to get our 12th city. Lost 3 cavs.

One turn left on the Roman peace-treaty, I'll see if I can get something out of it.

1410AD - Lose elite cav IT.

Egypt land 5 cavs and a LB near New York. Kill them all without losses and how the RNG can be funny, we get 2 leaders! One built army the other is saved for CIA.

Lose 2 cavs razing egyptian Edfu.

Peace with Inca, get Espionage for 54gpt.
Peace with Egypt, even Espionage for Medicine.

Reneg peace with Caesar, Medicine and Espionage for RP and gems. We have no rubber, what a surprise. No rubber for purchase either.

The leader hurry CIA in Houston.

Hmm, why can't we trade with all civs? Ah, trade-embargos.

1415AD - Set builds to infra.

Plant spies in Maya, Rome and Egypt, fail to put one in Inca twice and second time they declare war. We got some gpt back.

Warhappiness is great, luxtax to zero and we have 160gpt atm.

1420AD - Not much.

1425AD - Rome wants 250g for renewing ROP, no thanks. Then they declare on Maya :)

Join some ottoman workers in Birka after it built an aqueduct.

Renew wines and incense for coal from Rome. When did we ruin our rep? They won't throw in WM in a deal.

Plant spy in Inca. They have 60 infantries, impressive.

1430AD - Take out a barbcamp for 25g :lol:

1435AD - Rome wants 120 something gpt for iron and rubber, I settler for rubber this time for silks.

Kill 3 Incan units guarding a settler.

1440AD - Nothing.

1445AD - The embargo between Egypt and Inca against us ends.

1450AD - The embargo between Maya and Inca against us ends.

We have enough gold for an immediate steal, give it a try on Inca and we learn Corporation.

Rome would give iron for Corporation and too much gpt and Egypt would like a couple of luxes and huge gpt. I'm not sure if it's worth it right now.

We better build some Stock Exchanges so we can build Wall Street.

An army and some cannons are still sitting near roman lands.

And the reason why I built some cathedrals is simply that we have wasted 100's if not 1000's of gold in luxtax. With a few cities we need every gold we can get and we might even build colosseums after hospitals.

We have some luxes for sale, couldn't see anything good for it last turn though.

Perhaps we ruined our rep when the war started again, thus reneging on the peace treaty. ???

Nice trading once again Goz.

See why the refuse. They will tell you if you broke a treaty with someone. It could simply be they thought the deal was bad.

gargh, I thought I posted this already. Sorry. It is on my laptop, which I can't get to until this evening :(

:bump:, impatiently.
