Goz7 - The Squeeze Rematch

I looked over the game to see whether we can easily take out the Egyptian capitol by boat. The answer is "no". We would have to take out multiple cities to get to it.

Still it may be the only option available to us. We would want 30 odd artillery, and a bunch of Infantry and some cav (I am assuming we can't get to tanks in time). I see two options for this:

Build 8-10 Transports. I think we should start building these now if we want to do this. We have to take out 1-2 cities before the capitol.

Get an ROP with Maya and ship over units into Mayan territory. We would have slightly farther to go to get to the capitol, but it saves us on building so many boats.

Taking out the capitol seems the only way to have any chance at all. I think we need to concentrate on making a force to do so. If we do not prioritize this, it is game over. I have no idea if we can build a force large enough to do this before the ship is launched, but we need to try.

Preturn- Good lord, this game is imminent suicide. Will see what we can do. With 18 bomber Egypt will be more than able to torch our stack we send in.

T2 1754

We add Wall Street to our empire. Egpytians add SS engine to their ship :(

T6 1762

Egypt adds part 7.

T10 1770

Egypt begins Internet. They also add exterior casing.

Summary

I upgrade and built up our military as best as I could. We have over 60 arty now, but we lack other troops severly. With only two parts left for Egypt, I think we're toast. Next player should probably declare and see if we can slow them down at all. We stand no chance of making it to their capitol right now. They now have 17 Modern Armor and several nukes. Perhaps its time to pull the trigger :suicide:

I got it but am not expecting any miracles.

Space ship parts DON'T appear to be flagged as military in the editor. My gut feeling says no.

I tested on an old save, and it appears you can build them when mobilized (but they get no shield bonus)

Preturn: Minor tweaks.

IBT:

1772 AD: We need flight now and there is a possible 2fer. I risk a steal from Netherlands which succeeds. We take flight and trade it for Mass Production (adding in 310 gold, 40 gpt, gems, spices ). I trade Portugal flight and Mass Prod for everything its got other than Fascism and Music Theory (perhaps Economics is the only really useful tech, we also get 4 gpt and 137 gold.

I then trade Gems, Iron, Spices, 170 gpt, 145 gold for Motorized Transport. We can build tanks.

Note: Be careful about putting that many workers on a Volcano. If it happened to start smoking last IBT we would have lost 2/3 of our Workforce. I was a bit overkill anyway.

I cancel the Coal deal with the Maya. We are RRing the Last squares.

Be Careful - I put an infantry into our MDI Army. It looks like an Infantry Army but is not

Egypt has 8 parts. We need to attack, but I want some Flak before we do. Will wait a few turns.

I get an ROP with Maya.

Mine some squares to get production up.

IBT: First Tank, 4 Flak.

1774 AD: Investigate Uxmal. About 10 Defenders of various sort and 3 Bombers.

1776 AD: I trade 189 gpt and spices for Egypt's 2833 gold. I try a careful steal which fails and we are at war with Egypt.

Attack on Uxmal: Bombard the town until the many units are redlined. Cav Army kills 3 Mech. The next Cav Army kills a Modern Armor and 2 TOW, 3 Tanks kill 2 more TOW and a Modern Armor. A Cavalry Kills a Tank and we Capture - Oops Abandon the City). Lose a Cavalry killing a Mech on a hill (red-lined). Kill the Mech and the Tank.

Ally Maya vs the Egyptians. We need to be the one pounding on them though. Otherwise they will just walk all over the Mayans. No hiding behind the choke for us. Maya demands Oil for the Deal. Ok.

Note that we have an ROP with the Mayans while Egypt does not. This should give a tactical advantage.

Egypt has the following units near our territory: A Mech, a MA, and a Tank Injured from our Bombardment. 3 MA, 2 Tank, 1 Mech nearby. Next to Quirga, 5 Mech, 3 MA, Tank. Nothing near Cuello

Move our workers to a distance greater than 1 from any city for when the Nuke fall.

Our border will expand next turn so a town is switched to a settler.

Well that is the best I can do for this turn. Hit end turn and hope things work out ok. This is not going to be an easy war.

IBT We shoot down one of the two Bombers that attacks a stack. We lose an Infantry to a Tank attack, and an Infantry on the saltpeter island when the Mech attacks.

1778 AD: Yow! our (3) Cav army goes to 1 hp before killing a 1 hp Mech! I didn't realize it only had 3 otherwise I would have shipped a cav over. I will fix that

Lose a Cavalry taking out a 1 hp MA. Kill 3 MA, 1 Tank, 1 Mech.

Hmmm... It looks like they Nuked Maya instead of us. How sad.

Our first Elite Tank gets us a Leader! We put 3 Tanks into the Army that we form.

Destroy the first Egyptian town we need to destroy to cut our way to the Capitol.

IBT: We shoot down 3 Bombers. We lose War Happiness and Niniveh Riots.

1780 AD: Kill mostly units this turn.

Notes:
Things went Well. I was afraid we wouldn't be able to get Tanks or Planes, but the crucial Steal succeeded and we got the tools we need to take out the capitol. We still have to cut our way there. It is a race, but the outcome is far from certain. They still have 8/0 so are still researching the next tech(s). We got a Tank Army which will help.

Obviously the Egyptian capitol is the most important thing. We have 2 stacks that can combine and start the long march.

One thing. I moved units around AFTER adjusting for happiness. Since we are Communist and have unit support, I might have caused a city to be unhappy. The next player should check for this.

We still Need Atomic Theory and Electronics to Get to the Modern Era. I was upgrading so we don't have much money for that yet.

We have 13 Flak now and can probably lessen our Flak building. We need more tanks now.

We can get to the Egyptian capitol in 10 to 15 turns. We don't have many tanks with the stack yet so we may be using Cavalry and our Tank armies to take out the Capitol (the Cav Armies are healing). If they start the last two parts, simply move both stacks and all the armies straight for the capitol. We have 30-40 Artillery, 3 Cav Armies and 1 Tank Army. It should be enough if we have time.

I saw a transport off the Eastern Seaboard. That is why I put infantry into those towns.

Maya will be falling fast as the collect more Nukes.

If we stop the space ship we have 32% pop and can stop Domination. We are strong Culturally so won't lose that way. I have won games from our position before (way behind in tech). I think stopping the space ship WILL allow us to win (if we play well that is).

1778 AD: Yow! our (3) Cav army goes to 1 hp before killing a 1 hp Mech! I didn't realize it only had 3 otherwise I would have shipped a cav over. I will fix that
How do you think I got it over there? I didn't add the 4th, as we DIDN'T have the ability to transport a 4-unit army at that time.

I have been thinking on this game, and I think the assault on the capitol will be tricky. The mayans are dying rapidly. I am not sure how many turns we have, but we may be facing the might of egypt very soon.

For this reason we need to both have enough units to take out the capitol and enough units to defend ourselves.

As long as our main stack can get back to help defend our lines we are ok, but with Maya falling we may have to split our forces into an attack on the capitol and a defense force.

This will be non-trivial to do. We don't really have sufficient units for doing both. Egypt has 36 Modern Armor left. We want to lessen this number if we can (Bombard and kill ones we can reach). I don't mind losing a few towns if we can take out the Capitol, but losing 1/2 our empire won't help us even if we get the Spaceship.

So we need a delicate balance. Hopefully, we can take out Alexandria and still have a path back to our lines - Alexandria will take all of our Artillery I think. Ideal would be to take out enough towns on either side to keep our line of communication open. Our inability to build towns makes this a lot harder. Normally I would build a row of towns through the territory.

I would also switch more builds to tanks. We will need them soon.

Finally, right now we can be attacked by Modern Armor on a single turn. We may want to plant a forest in the choke to slow down the Egyptian MA so they cannot reach our town in a single turn and we get first bombard. It may be hard to do - we could really use another infantry Army (and tank for that matter).

Getting Atomic Theory and Electronics could help. Mechs could really help.

Also we may want to rush a wall in the new town. I should have done that.

[Edit: One final comment. There is another strategy that might be useful - declare war on the Netherlands. Have their units block the choke (bombard them so they sit in the choke healing forever. Hard to do though, so I don't use it much.

I have it, but be advised I'm in this Sid Vicious marathon at the moment. I will probably need a full 72, unless you want to swap Lee?

I am not sure why most of the workers are sleeping when cities have excess food without an aqueduct or hospital. We need to squeeze every last shield from our cities. The reason I make this comment is summed up with the following example. New Ashur went from 45 turns for a tank to 13 turns.

I have a nice artillery stack, but 6 tanks are way to little to hurt Egyptian towns with mechs.
(IT) The Air defense at New Zamua does a great job shooting down 3 bombers.
Netherlands and Maya sign a peace treaty.

1782 AD
New Zamua (the salt island) is a lost cause. We have no chance with 1 infantry, and 3 flaks to hold off 2 mechs, 2 tanks, and 2 modern armors. That ignores the bombers and ships hitting the city. I can't afford to waste time holding an unneeded resource. I sell the improvements and abandon New Zamua. I disband the last transport as I am not going back to the island.

For the most part all I can do it ping the Egyptian MA. I kill a few strays, but I just don't have the tools to work with.
(IT) I watch Copan fall to Egypt.
Egypt lands 5 mechs and a tank by New Izibia.

To be continued...

I already need a break after two turns of high frustration.
I don't have enough military to accomplish anything.

On the island you can use the transports to get 12 units to the island. Not that we have the units to spend.

The assualut on the capitol will mostly have to be done using armies I think We have 3 cav and 1 Tank. That would be plenty, but we need some armies for defense so we don't really have plenty. The problem is we need enough artillery to redline all the units.

I suspect the next 10 turns will be as hard as I have ever seen civ get. If we had no chance one wouldn't care. If we had more units it would be easy.
