wow, this looks really exciting to me. what is the Russian space ship doing? I am most worried about them.

we need to ultimately get over there and grab the crucial resources. but we can't see where is aluminum and uranium.

got it, but I will play this really slowly and try and put all effort into every detail like you did, Bugs. how about attacking stockholm first, or maybe not a good idea, because it would open up Babs access to us.
 
Exactly my thought rat. The Vikings are buffering us from the Babs. Probably want to go after the cities counter-clockwise.

The Russians don't have any SS parts, the Ottos have three and the Babs four.

you kept the Viking city, but that means a high flip risk. I understand why you did that, probably to get us access deeper into their territory. Should we raze it once we have more cities there?
your suggested red dots are combat settler spots?

and another thing. If Vikings talk to us, should we accept peace, if we can get good techs? I looked at the save and we have no money for another 15 turns or so, no way we can get any tech.

pound Birka to 1 pop, then get at Stockholm and it's down to 10

pound Birka units to 1hp and attack
army defeats 2, inf attacks and we capture Birka including SETI and Magellan and 79g :D

move to Trondheim

5. 1725AD moving units

IT Trondheim finishes Internet (how nice) and Russia adds first part to SS

6. 1730AD
Trondheim has 6 defenders, after pounding them its down to pop 13 from 22 and civil defense destroyed
we have enough money for a steal from Russia, do that and we get flight :D

Trondheim gives us a 4th lux as well and of course, now we are the owners of The Internet

will found a city in between to connect to trondheim and then move forward
to next city counterclockwise, progress is nice and make me feel really positive
once we have transport, we have to send an armada to Russia to take out moskow and their SS, I guess

but, tonight, I will finish my turns first

Internet will be a nice boost as our new cities will now expand in five, plus we get a nice research boost, should we ever feel the need to research again...but I have a feeling we won't :evil:
 
actually, I love it, that we captured the Internet for various reasons. Ai's does not have it, we get lots of culture for our fringe cities. and we could do research, but I doubt we would need that.

I actually found another city already and we have 4 lux, but I did not MM yet since it was really late and I had to force myself to go to bed.
Exciting game really.

Since we have flight now, we can build anti air units and our armies sent to Russia should be safer.
I hope we can take out Vikings fast, then go for Ottoman or Babs.

I am building Wall Street for extra income, we make currently around 70-80gpt even though we got those huge gpt payments to Ottoman, another 7 turns and we will get them back, though we will lose iron. roading project is going well, all the hinterland is soon roaded.
 
We may want to renew the iron deal, take out all Viking cities on our continent, then take out Bab cities on on our continent, then go for Ottos.

We probably need to start making a plan to raze Moscow. Transports and escorts in the ocean cities?

I've got it. I'm not going to build any more flak though, as it has been proven mostly useless in the past. In LK72 I remember having a huge stck of them stacked with our offensive stack them doing nary a thing to any of the ridiculous amount of enemny bombers.

that's interesting. we used them to good effect in 3grams to protect border towns and wittle down the celtic bomber force. however, that was demigod and, with the diety shield reduction, maybe it doesn't make sense here.
 
Interesting indeed. Perhaps they work better in cities? From what I remember they did nothing in the open. Perhaps it was just extremely bad RNG luck. I haven't a clue.

did they also prove useless to defend towns? I haven't got suffcient experience to justfy, but I thought they do help a bit, even in detering the attacks. Those 4 towns mentioned get really pounded badly, I rather have some defense there.

By the way, there is a lone inf just in front of Oslo, I used it to be able to see how many units are in Oslo while pounding it. Sorry, most likely it will be attacked on the counter. All 3 armies are healing this turn, they can't to cover.

I didn't like the last 2 turns, where Ottoman betrayed us and we got no more iron. I hope we can soon steal our way to tanks, tank armies would turn this game around I think. Russians have 7 pieces left only, time is running out sooner or later.
 
Flak / Mobile Sam DO hit. I have shot down some planes with them. The problem isn't they don't hit. The problem is a low sucess rate.
 
I knew the Mobile SAM had a decent sucess rate, I just had yet to see a flak work. I'll keep an eye on the situation and try and give it a chance.
 
Preturn- Things look good. Will let the flak go for now, see what happens. Osman's price for iron is absurd. We can hold out without it for now.

IT- lots of Russian bombers.

Bombard the snot out of Oslo. Nothing much else of importance.

IT- Babylon and Scandinavia sign peace. Flak actually take down two bombers :clap:

T2 1754

An infantry army bites it attacking a redlined Mech at Oslo :mad:

Do more bombardment, no attacks ready yet.

IT- Kill 3 more Russian bombers.

T3 1756

I've come to the conclusion that attacking even redlined TOW and mechs completely sucks. We will not win the game doing this. We need tanks badly. Will try to find them somehow. An immediate steal from the Russians yields Mass Production, so we are only one step away.

Considering our war needs and that we don't need to build any infrastructure right now, I mobilize us.

IT- Scratch 3 more bombers.

T4 1758

We finally take Oslo. Move arty to next target.

IT- No bombers go down this time. Russia destroyers take a good couple minutes to do their thing even with shift held down.

T5 1760

Capture Stockholm. Start working on Bergen.

IT- Osman pops in and wants to renw peace. I don’t think we really want 20 turns of forced peace, so we declare. Welcome to AWD :lol:

T6 1762

I move things around, now focusing our offensive on Edrine.

IT- Ottos and Scandinavia sign peace, of course.

Vikes pop up and want peace. For 98g we have peace and Motorized Transportation

T7 1764

Switch many cities to tanks. I also remobilize us.

For kicks, I also do an immediate steal on the Babs, and succeed. We get Medicine.

I just noticed a rather strange thing in that we can build Battlefield Medicine while we don’t even know Sanitation due to the hospitals we’ve captured :lol:
IT- Ottos bomb our stuff.

T8 1766

Kill one mech on Edrine. I want that city with all my soul. In addition to iron, it has Hoovers. We need it.

IT- Our first tanks roll off the line.

T9 1768

Kill a TOW in Edrine. Move two tanks into our SOD. Hopefully next turn is the turn we have waited ages for.

IT- More of the same.

T10 1770

One of our tanks dies, and the other takes out two TOW. We don’t have enough to do it this turn. I move two more tanks into the SOD, hopefully next turn this will be enough, as the armies are completely gassed. More tanks are on the way.

I decide to try one more immediate steal, this time from the Ottos. We succeed and take Scientific Method. Gotta love veteran spies. 3000 more gold and we’ll be modern.


Summary

These were some grueling turns. I was glad to be proven wrong on flak. It has been really tough so far, but I think with tanks now on the scene, the floodgates will be gin to slowly open. Once have Hoovers and iron, we should finally have the production we should have had a looong time ago. With a good force of tanks and arty, the assimilation of our continent should not be difficult. We have to start planning soon on how we’re going to raze Moscow. We can be thankful that it is on the coast, at least.

I agree, but was lucky during my turns, used completely healed armies only, that's why bombers are even more helpful, they can take those 1hp units out.

good thing, flak works, looks good with tanks, hopefully we can create some armies to roll the Russians over
 
brutal, just brutal :goodjob: i think, for moscow, maybe we need a few of transports full of marines. can we reach it with bombers atm? we will definitely need to trim it down in size and hurt the mech's. i'm afraid if we try a landing that we'll just get bombed off the continent.
 
checked the save and our bombers are gone, next player should build a few, they can be vital as in my case to kill those 1hp units. more effective than any other unit we have
 
We may want to consider building a real navy with destroyers and carriers. Load the carrier with 1 fighter and threebombers each. Build about 10 sets and we can make a serious dent in Moscow when our marines attack. We'll need to start building now though.
