Preflight check: wow, this looks like a real ballbuster :lol: this is the 1st SG I’ve been in that went this late and the capitol was less than size 7. something tells me this won’t be pretty.
Go thru all cities very carefully. I lost my internet connection during this so I can’t read gozpel’s post but, from what I see, I conclude that MP's are playing havok.
Plant a spy in the Vikings. Their army consists of 34 tow’s, 18 mechs, 3 tanks, 5 infantry, 1 marine, 1cav, 1 marine, 1cav. I also notice that they are Democratic? Too bad, I would attempt some propaganda on them if they were something else (or if we had 10000g)

IBT: Ottomans and Vikings sign MPP. They also sign MA vs us They also join up against Babylon :)

Bombard the Ottoman border near Dabrum and Anshan. Also, redline the Viking ToW stack near Sweet Salmon.
Shuffle some MP’s around in the N.
I see that the Vikings are in Anarchy :) .
Move some workers towards the core in anticipation of Iron.

IBT: we get hit by about 8 Ottoman cruise missiles and 5 or 6 bombers, plus 1 or 2 Viking bombers. Brutal. We also lose an infantry, an AC army, and a stack of arty.

T2: 1635AD Stack of workers that was optimistically sent back to RR, now is running towards the rubber so we ensure a continuous supply.
For giggles, I kill the Viking leader with an EW.

IBT: Ottomans use arty and bombers on us. Capture Tutub as I didn’t see the Sip in range

T3: 1640AD Elite LB kills Sip in Tutub and we retake the town (4/5) + 245g :D If I did that on purpose, I’d say it was an exploit.

IBT: Vikings request an Audience. They offer peace and I squeeze them for another 100g. This kills our rep due to blown MA vs Vikings but this is too much to handle atm.

T4: 1645AD Huge stack outside of Kutulla; bombard the piss out of it. Also, kill a nearby redlined Sip with an elite LB (2/5)
I bombard an Ottoman unit in their own land, triggering the Vikings to declare war on us again :(

I have 2 riots even though there are more happy people than sad people (in Kutha and Apisala). Sometimes, I just don’t get it.

T5: 1650AD Well, now I’ve made a complete mess of this :lol: bombard an Ottoman infantry near Konya and the Russians declare on us. Looks like we got about 140gpt back though.
Elite horseman kills redlined Sip.
Plant a spy in Moscow. We should be able to try another steal in 2T.

We desperately need that iron, but I cannot figure out how to get it and my 1st attempt was a complete failure.

Don't worry about it G-man. This aging brain was going a little nuts for a few days. I'm halfway through the ten turns. We're holding our own, thanks to the artillery. I think I'm going to set up an attempt to get iron.
 
OK team, I need a ruling. In the IBT after 1675, Osman popped up and I got a peace treaty and got combustion for some gpt in the deal.

Now here's where I need a ruling. They will pay us for a MPP.

Is it allowed by the variant?

My computer will be tied up with Civ running in the background until I can figure this out.
 
I'm not sure if it's written anywhere, but I always thought that MPPs and alliances like that were usually off the table with defiant stuff. That said, I think we've strayed a good deal from true defiant rules in this game on more than one occasion, and this one is plenty crazy already, so why not some more? :crazyeye: So essentially, I'm undecided, but lean towards thinking we can do it in this game. I think we've gone with the mantra of "once they open the window, anything goes" for most of the game, so change it now?
 
I agree, if its initiated by the AI a MPP is fine as well

why you actually want a MPP with Ottoman? I thought we would like their iron?
 
They have two irons
get that other iron, if possible by all means. we need that to rail and then get finally further in this game
 
We already mucked up here and there. Go for it, Bugs :)

At least we kept the rule to wait for the AI to initiate contact.
 
Pre-flight – 1650 AD – I thought we made peace with the Vikings? Let me guess, we set off that &*%#$ MPP. Recapture an artillery piece that was just sitting out there. Use it to wound a Sip then kill it. At least five turns until a steal attempt. On second thought we really need to upgrade our military a bit. Cats and trebs don’t do a lot against TOW. The Ottomans have three SS parts complete.

IBT – Lose an LB and an MP in Akshak from bombers. Akshak riots.

1. 1655 AD – Kill an invading Viking and an invading Ottoman. Upgrade several cats. Disconnect the Ottoman oil.

IBT – Our spy in Trondheim is captured.

2. 1660 AD – Kill two more Ottoman invaders, upgrade two trebs and a cat. Spend 90G replanting our spy in Trondheim.

IBT – Akshak loses another MP and riots. Production in Susa is sabotaged.

3. 1665 AD – Found Rubber Outpost on the Ottoman Frontier. Upgrade two cats. Shuffle defenders. I wish we had some rails.

IBT – That one was rough. Lost some units to bombers. A propaganda campaign upsets Redrum’s citizens.

4. 1670 AD – There are at least three fleets sailing around. Each of our enemies has one marine. I am able to double up our defenders everywhere but Hareid. Kill off the Viking invasion from ten turns ago. Move artillery into Rubber Outpost to fire over the mountains next turn.

IBT – A redlined EW in one of our boarder cities, kills a Mech Inf. :spear: Two Ottomans are dropped off on our northern coast.

5. 1675 AD – We bombard and kill the invaders. I check the space race. There has been no change, although I notice that we don’t have a spy in Babylon. I spend 105G planting one. They have three SS parts built. Upgrade our last cat and a treb.

IBT – We get this message.

Before Osman walks away I also get him to give us iron and an MPP for coal, rubber, ivory, gems, & 162gpt. I know that cripples our income for a while, but I think we can make up for it.

9. 1695 AD – Found New Hope. Reduce Copenhagen from a bustling city of 12 to a town of 6. March on the city.
