GozGram 1 - Hammurabi and The Code of Laws (100k)

There is a limit of taking cities, but no limit of how many cities we can settle inside AI territory. Anyone read Arathorn's passive AW game?

I'd like a tip what you excactly mean and a link if you can provide one (or at least in which forum it is; HOF?)

@grs: 100K is all about having a lot of cities. The reason we couldn't have more cities is the AI. We normally can just take their cities, or raze and replace, but this game has limit of only gaining one city per war. So that wouldn't help. However, we can settle inside AI territory during a war. Granted we'll have a lot of overlap with them. But assume we have a lot of more culture (and military!) that shouldn't be an issue.

I think we need to take the Arathorn approach to this game a flip some cities with culture and propaganda.

A very nice game, but this was monarch (with some additional rules), ours is deity. We cant possibly expect cities flipping to us anytime soon. In fact we will probably have to fear flips from us for a long time. I dont see us building mass temples anytime soon.

Oh, I agree. But many moons down the road, I think it maybe a very good approach. We may want to head towards Espionage in the IA for the propaganda.

I must admit I never used propaganda more than for testing and besides the above, I never read such a successfull usage of it - so this will be very interesting. I just hope we live to see that time ;)
Yeah we have this minor problem of being the 100 lb weakling trying to take on some bullies. Let's hope our war doesn't turn into a dogpile.

the suspense is killing me :) actually, since i will be out of town tonight and tomorrow, the thought of not knowing what's happened till Sunday night will gnaw at me all weekend.

good luck to microbe and bugs! no big deal, just the whole future of this game is riding on your shoulders :D

No pressure. :D

preturn: continue CoL in 11 turns. Move units toward Madras.

1075BC: IBT Zulu demands 12g I cave and we have 0g in treasury. Fortunately we were making +3gpt..

1050BC: We have 2 turns left for CoL. I buy it from Mongols with 2gpt, and declare on India.

CoL to Zulu for Iron Working + 15g.
CoL+2gpt+16g to Germany for Philosophy+Masonry.

Narually we have no iron, but Sagres has one. However we cannot change our destiny now as we are all positioned at Madras.

I start min on Republic, and declare on India.

@Madras:
vet bowman 0/4 loses to reg spear.
vet bowman 3/3 kills spear.
vet bowman 0/4 loses to reg spear.
vet bowman 1/3 kills spear.
vet bowman 3/3 kills archer. We capture Madras by ONE hp.

gg1-1025BC-cap.jpg

1000BC: two warriors approach Madras, one warrior and one archer approach Ashur. All regulars.

Move units.

975BC: IBT We win two battles and lose one warrior. A horseman appears next to Madras. Nineveh riots.

950BC: We kill the horse but bowman redlined.

IBT Our redlined bowman wins against spear and promotes. India starts Sun Tzu's!

925BC: IBT we lose a reg bowman but kills an archer.

900BC: India agrees to talk! I kill two more warriors.

I leave the peace treaty to the next player. We can see 4 techs: Mysticism, Math, Map Making and HBR. I suggest we just get Math and Mysticism with ~2gpt and leave those dead-end techs alone.

Next war should be Sagres. It has iron and a lux. We need 10+ bowmen. It could actually be easier once we capture the city as the front is narrow. Oh with Math we can build some cats too. This game is like OW now.

We can settle a town on the wheat/cattle soon. But I saw Indian settler pair around before the war so please move a couple of units to reserve the space.

I played 14 turns as I didn't want to leave a mess to the next player.

And sorry I set min research to Republic. We are 6 turns into it but we can choose to switch to Lit. None of the AIs have Republic, so we may just continue, as we need it anyways and it's unlikely we can get it by Lit.

Oh we are in GA.

I've got it. I'm not sure we want another war during our GA. Maybe right as it ends. What do you guys think?

I would also attack soon. We need some more bowmen first - not only to take the city, but to hold the mountain range after that. Waiting too long seems not a good idea.

@6thGenTexan: it is the only iron they have connected yet and no other is visible right now.

Pre-flight – 900 BC – We can get peace with India. I take and get Math & HBR for 43G in the process. Construction and currency are known.

Since we need to make good use of our GA, I change Ellipi, Nineveh, and Ashur to temples.

I change Babylon to a temple also to let it grow more before popping a settler.

IBT – Babylon: temple=>settler

1. 875 BC – Lux goes to 50%.
2. 850 BC – nada.

IBT – Ellipi: temple=>settler
Indians start the GL. Indians complete the Hanging Gardens.

3. 825 BC – Literature is now widely known.

IBT – Mongols demand 21G. I’m a wimp.
Nineveh: Temple=>settler
Portuguese and Incas start GL.

4. 800 BC – Lux down to 20%.
Buy Literature from India for 12gpt & 28G. Strictly on cost.
Sell Literature to Caesar for Myst & 47G (full price)
Sell lit to the Mongols for Spices and 42G.
Lux to 0%.
Buy Polytheism from Zulus for Literature, 5 gpt, & 93g.
I get Construction and 11G from Germany for Literature, Polytheism & 1gpt.

IBT – Incas demand 14G (our entire purse), I cave again.
Babylon: Settler=>library
Ashur: temple=>library
Akkad: temple=>library
Everyone starts the GL.

5. 775 BC – nada.

IBT – Caesar demands the 5G out of our wallet. Bully.
6. 750 BC
IBT – The Portuguese complete the Temple of Artemis.
Incas and Indians start Sun Tzus.
The Republic is now widely known.

7. 730 BC – We’re going to be having two settlers built next turn. I disband our two curraughs, go with lone scientist.

IBT – Nineveh, Ellipi: settler=>library

8. 710 BC – Walking a tightrope on the budget again. We’re at 4G and a -2gpt budget. I’m going to start crowding the cities in.

IBT – Madras: temple=>barracks
Incas build GL.

9. 690 BC – Found Uruk. Found Eridu. We’re in the black budget-wise. Science to 10%.

IBT – Henry wants everything in our purse, 3G. What is with the chicken-**** demands?
Babylon: Library=>Bowman

10. 650 BC – Found Samarra.

After Action – We’re in building mode, but we might want to shift to military soon.

nice trading bugs. if we can get to the MA, maybe our free tech will be tradable still? looks like we only need to find a seller of currency. however, we want to start on Sagres soon so we don't face too many MDI's and pikes. i strongly agree with tex, let's not wait much longer.
