GR13 - AWE on LK's world map

The big stack of transports was 10 turns form any thing. IIRC we had enough to grab all the Australia island, well there are mostly gone now. There are two tiny chinese islands that can be taken by the cav army finishing off the germany town.

I think that will be pretty much all the islands, but I could have forgotten somethig. In any event those will be gone in the next set or two or at least under attack.

All we need is to raze one town and get 1 slave to make an airfield and we can fly in as many workers or tanks as makes sense. Those transports fleets should have had a worker or two in them to allow a quick airfield.

BTW I think there is a decent sized island off of the tundra, but that can be handled with a rush of a transport or two form Buffalo or one of the other places. Just use a spare cav and cash or even a tank.

I am not sure if this is mentioned anywhere, but we have an army form the MA floating around. I think it was heading to the Americas. It is empty.

RIght now we still have time as S America will take time, but I would like to finish S America and the islands at about the same time (if possible).

That would be rather difficult as all of South America fell on Turn 6. The invasion of Australia and Greenland are underway as well. Will finish up tomorrow.

Then I get an F3 crash. Re-do it.
Sink a pair of Aussie ironclads and a frigate. Move a couple more armies around
And done.

What’s left? :D

22 towns:

China 4- 2 in Hawaii and 2 South Pacific
Russia 4- 2 North America tundra islands and 2 in Greenland
Mongols 1- South Pacific
Germany 2- Greenland
India 3- South Pacific
Aztecs 1 – Cuba
Australia 7- 6 on the mainland and Port Arthur island off the coast.

I let the AI choose the builds, so all sorts of mobile ADA and junk in queue. Don’t need anything else as it is. Plenty of transports about, I have one additional one heading to Hawaii with 48th Tank Army from the east as our only units in their waters are currently 3 tanks and 3 arty.

Next up should have no trouble with finishing the game in a few turns.

great progress here :goodjob:

now, let's have our team leader have the honour to finish this up

so, are you guys tired of these giant aw games? or would you be up for more challenges? You should know I would be :mischief:

That would be rather difficult as all of South America fell on Turn 6.
:wow:

:hatsoff: This one looked too easy :p
TGL and the knight-cav times were a hard defense to go through, but things picked up wonderfully. Good game guys.

Jets, where did they come from? The Iroq had flight long ago as they were bombing me, until I caught the bombers in town.

Yeah, that is why I stop many of the builds and put the places to wealth. We were running about -900gpt anyway. We had more bombers than we needed by the end of my set and some transports were on automove and did not try to find them and send them some place.

The funny thing about these two games to me is that the AWM was much harder. With the crapping start and higher level, I would have thought this would be harder.

The 30 enemies were able to put a lot of pressure on for a long time in the AWM. All become easy, once the tech lead is ours and we reach critical mass.

If the land mass in this game was about 30% less, then it may have been a bigger struggle. With the AI getting in contacts sooner and finding us sooner.

Maybe the other factor in the AWM was the very high cost of researching. Making it take a long time for us to get to knights and cavs.

Jets, where did they come from? The Iroq had flight long ago as they were bombing me, until I caught the bombers in town.

The only jets were the ones I built, and they were never for dealing with AI bombers, only to provide recon so I could see the results of bombing runs and illuminate certain areas.

Great turn.

I got it and can start playing tomorrow night.

Question: Do the long pauses make the game unplayable for you all? I would love to do a game like AG3 except always war. Problem is that it is slower than even this one. I can post a late game save.

The idea would be a max size map - difficulty demigod - 31 civs. I believe this could be winnable simply because we won't contact a lot of civs right away due to the large distances.

The idea for the latter game would be each player has up to 5 days or up to 10 turns. Its a long game but if played slowly, then it is more managable.

Sadly the delays ruin some of the fun (but not all of it to my mind). Pillaging and razing take a good while.

We could also increase the time each player plays to a full week if desired if 5 days didn't seem enough to get into the game.

personally I shadow played AG3 and I have been setting up a similar scenario recently. I found out that due to upgrading my computer (cos of a certain freaking slow game called CIV), the IT's are now somewhat faster.
Granted, you better abstain from pillaging.

If the team would be ok with such a game, I would suggest a Civ with a fast defender (we can't afford CxxC placement on hugs maps), Civs like Celts or Zulu...

Given the veteran status of this bunch, I don't see delays being an issue. This one slowed maybe once or twice, but we have none of the communication issues that less seasoned groups have.

I'd be up for another.

For the most part the delays were not real bad. A few spots where it was painful. The worse part is it is out of your control, such as parts of the IBT.

I am not aware of what AG3 is, so cannot comment on it. A 362x362 map, with 31 civs and more than the minimum water will get painful, especially AWDG.

What would the research cost be such a map? I would expect that game to be a handful. The start and the civ would be important.

I would think Zulu would hurt as much as help wtih the poor traits an instant GA. Well if we had enough room the GA would not be so bad. The Celts UU is better. Of course you got to like the Iroq and the MW.

we played as Iro's in a huge Greebley map before, so maybe Celt's would be nice for a change...

here is the link for AG3, a nice read by the way
