Well, after there's a thread about Obi-Wan, I decided to start this thread.

Is Thrawn the best admiral?
He was wrong for the noghris only.

For me he's the best!

He's in the books, the authorized third trilogy that Timothy Zahn wrote.

I wasn't particularly fond of him. But that was also probably the point.

That's because his character doesn't appear in the movies. He's part of the EU, short for Expanded Universe of Star Wars. Which include comics, video games, books, spin off movies etc.

He is the Grand Admiral of the Empire Fleet in the time line of the movies after Return of The Jedi. In more nerdy term, 9 ABY.

Grand Admiral Thrawn, Full name Mitth'raw'nuruodo, is an Imperial Grand Admiral in the Expanded Universe (Which are stories that are set outside the main trilogy and the prequel trilogies) who made his first apperance in Timothy Zahn's novel Heir to the Empire (Along with Dark Force Rising and The Last Command are collectively known as the Thrawn Trilogy).

Since his appearance in the Thrawn Trilogy, he is commonly seen in stories, games and other spin offs that are dated in the post Endor (ROTJ) time span. There are few stories in which Thrawn makes his appearance as early as the ESB time span, mostly centered around the DOS game TIE Fighter.

Grand Admiral Thrawn is noted as the most tactful Admiral of the Imperial Navy.

I think that Zahn's books recovered the Star Wars franchise, actually. It was kinda lacking and then his works really bumped it into the modern dynamo we see now.

Well, you can always blame him for making George Lucas introducing Jar Jar Binks :ack:.

That was a good move given the objective of trying to build a next generation fan base, starting with the elementary school kids. Sucked for the older crowd, but the kids loved it.

I remember thrawn back when I used to play TIE fighter as a kid

I never did well enough to beat it though, moved on to Dark Forces

Is it because his Star Destroyer in SE:EAW FOC is...

...Bluemofia? :mischief:
Exactly. And he is not like a standard imperial by allowing retreat as a viable option in battle. Tarkin was the "No retreat" type guy. Didn't like him to be the fleet commander in my games.

Your stealthness doesn't work on black skin. :p I'm changing back on Sunday.

Bluemoff...

What about the Noghris?

Pah!

Locutus forever ;)

actully my favorite admiral would have to be Admiral Carth O'nasi from the Old Republic. HE was just awesome in KoToR and he is my favorite star wars charter all together, and KoToR stated he got promoted to admiral in the middle of the 2nd world.

I hope for your own sake that you copied and pasted that from a website, and not from memory.
