[Graphic Mod] Varietas Delectat v9.2 [civ specific unit sets]

Care to elaborate ? :)

Well, I'm going to include other mods that don't alter the gameplay (like civ-specific great people, bluemarble, and also seven05's mod that allows different graphics for seperate continents - when it's ready). Also, I'm going to have different units to avain's mod.

Sorry for the off-topic avain. :)

Blue Marble works with CD out of the box, at least it does for Diversica, so there is no real need to integrate it.

Of course you will go with different choices for unit art than VD or Diversica do, I was more interested in what else you add :)

Avain, 3 graphic weirdo's I encountered sofar: the American civilization uses native warriors, the native swordsman uses the maceman button in the techscreen AND buildscreen, and the explorer in the techscreen uses the knight button.

Yep, the American warrior was intentional, it's the same as in CD, I was unsure about it, but for the next update I'll probably change it back.

Thanks about the button findings!:goodjob:

Hey Avain I warned you not to update until Bakuel came threw with his awesome Incan units soon...also you should really update Geomodder's Ethnic Artstyles to the latest version.

Yes, and you also said it was coming like a week earlier... and I still don't see a version after Ethnic Artstyles 1.09, which was what I was using.

But don't be afraid, I'll update when those things are comin'.

Ok, so for the next update I already have done the following corrections:
- corrected some buttons: Native Swordsman, Native and South American Explorer
- Sumerian Knight button and unit attack behaviour correction

Blast it all! Why did you have to say something about those units Sword_Of_Geddon! Now I have to upload the Incan units today, I was just going to put it off till tomorrow. :p

I'm going to eventually have the United States use native americans for all their units up till gunpowder, and then they use their own unique american style after that. It's silly having them use European units for their ancient units.. (in my opinion anyway:p).

It depends on how you look at it. If you assume they started out as natives and then changed to european clothing when the europeans arrived in america, that makes sense. If you assume they were europeans all along and just started settling on another continent then it doesn't ;)

Nice new teaser btw :)

Thanks! :)

The way I see it is if you're playing on an earth map, and then America starts in the year 4000 BC or whenever, in North America, then they should look Native American. The way I'm going to mod it in is going to be gradual, and I might have some hybrids like some Americans with darker skin for example (in the same group).

Also it's sort of what I'm doing by having modern spanish/mexicans as the future units of the aztecs, except it's the other way around.

I would do the same for my home country if it was in Civ, by having the ancient units as aboriginals, and then eventually you would start seeing the english/australian culture taking over.

imo both options are valid in civ. Given the fact that some of the civilizations in civ no longer exist, we do not know what their 'current' units would look like, so either the use units of people now living in the same location, or we come up with 'what-if' units.

If you go with the Americans not being europeans but a native civ which now no longer exists (like you do for the Aztecs), doing it your way is fine.

Will the Americans and the Native Americans then use similar early / medieval / modern units ?

Won't you be using Bakuel's new Inca units then as they do not look like Peru or Chile units ?

Just curious :)

The Americans and Natives will probably have similar medieval units I guess.. for modern native american units, I was thinking, possibly, Canada? Then rename the whole civ to Canada and add some new leaders  but I can't do that with my mod as I don't alter gameplay..

Also, where are Bakuel's new units?
