[Graphic Mod] Varietas Delectat v9.2 [civ specific unit sets]

Bad luck, I was hoping to post before you update. I have a possible bug in 5.0: Could you have a look at the roman gunship? I can't select the unit properly and I don't believe it is a problem with another mod, because I use no other unit mod. When I try to select the unit I can move it (the model is shown properly), but I have the wrong buttons shown, for example promotion buttons aren't shown. Also not the correct unit stack icons are shown, but the icons of the stack which would be shown, when I press next unit. I hope you understand what I mean, it's difficult to discribe in english.

BTW: Can I upgrate from v5.0 to v5.1 without starting a new game?

Do not worry, little tourist, you are not late, as it's corrected ;) (where's that quote from in your sig?)
(actually, it was corrected in MEE 5.0.1 already, I just didn't upload a new version of base VD)

About starting a new game: I would assume you'd be safe, but you can simply check it: keep v5.0 (rename it), and if v5.1 breaks the saves, just revert to it!;)

But I did check the vanilla stuff also and there's this size discrepancy, too.

I don't notice it in Vanilla.

I'll post some screeshots, if you like.

better post the ship here (what kind of model was this, a nif as texture ... never seen such a thing before - there are still surprises with this foramt  )

btw, hope the instructions helped ;)

Cool, we have a new shippy! Thanks a bunch! :goodjob:

I saved the instructions, so next time I need those I could do it! :goodjob:

That, and I reduced some extremely large textures, checked for improved nifs, etc.

This lowers the system resources used, and also lessens the possibility of errors (due to bad kfm-s, nifs, etc).

What still should be done and I don't know if I'll ever have the time and patience to do it is the following:
- identify the commonly used textures
- collect those into a shared place
- change the nifs to use these textures

This would be cool to have done, but it's a great deal of work.

Also, there are partly used textures (even extremes like using only a small feather texture from a dds), these could be optimized.
Now this is even bigger work, and currently I don't have the needed knowledge to do it.

Oh yeah, and checking the poly usage of units, identify those above 2000-3000 and check what could be done.

All this could help performance and stability (and reduce the size of VD further).

Updated to VD 5.1, but I'm sorry to report 2 error that I've found playing as the Dutch:

The Dutch war-elephant has a ranged attack vs. the Chinese Cho-Ku-Nu crossbowman. It moves like its hitting the crossbowman with its head, but it remains standing on its tile (the elephant doesn't walk over). And without actually hitting the poor chinese soldier, the elephant kills him.

The driver from the Ottoman war-elephant is sitting (hanging) sideways (?) on the head (?) of his elephant.

I noticed JustATourist's Sailingship skins made it in. Haven't been able to check yet, but were the Dutch East Indyman and the Portugese Carack reskins also included to make them fit in?
The Dutch East Indiaman has still the normal, standard UU graphics. Not an error, but a request. Could you perhaps include the graphics for the UU's aswell? The way it is now, with all other ships reskinned, the standard UU units don't fit with the other ships anymore (my opinion). Link to download here. Thanx.

Thanks, I'm going to check these!

Hungary mod for VD is now updated to v5.0, a HUGE update!

This is an amazing pack of units!

I was curious if it was easy to add these units into any other mod I have downloaded to replace whatever units it has. I like the units but I like playing other mods for the gameplay changes. I have tried looking around the forums and every answer seems...well complicated.

Once again, awesome job on this!

The Hungary MOD looks amazing! I'm downloading it already. I wish there were such packs for other custom civs.

Thanks guys!
The good news is that 10lire is working on an Italy mod, and there's a Cuba mod already available by Bernie.
Also, I encourage all of you to enter the world of modding and make the civ you'd like to do! I'm even offering help, and the Hungary mod could be a good tutorial on how a mod for VD should look like (if you're new to modding).
