[Graphic Mod] Varietas Delectat v9.2 [civ specific unit sets]

Hey, you're not disappointing anyone, Chugg! ;) There should be no pressure on art people;)
But, just so you know, I'll be sparse in the coming weeks, up until after 11th Aug., so if you manage it sometime by then, I'll be more than happy;)

Guess the stuff he had to do took a bit longer.... Avain's last reply in this thread was July 28.

My game crashes when I start it on this mod, and it also causes this weird thing to happen with the Advanced Start game, where a "Map Mode" box jitters around at the upper left, and it disables input.

I since revisited it. What is malfunctioning is my "modmod," that is, I made a copy of varietas Delctat with my Leaderhead XML spliced in. The normal mod works. I'm not sure if there's some incompatibility with the leaderhead text (never an issue before), or if the fact that it's now in a mod folder called "Varietas Delectat 2" that is causing it.

We're anxiously awaiting a new version. Since there have been no updates I've currently switched to the Wolfshanze mod, but I was hoping an updated VD came along, since I thinks it's the best modpack around!! (and maybe give MEE-lite some more thought, last version contained too much units, you had to keep upgrading. Could do with less tank-classes and maybe cut back one ship-era for a lite version of the MEE. Don't get me wrong: I'm loving VD and MEE, but MEE got to complex lately).

I've currently switched to the Wolfshanze mod...
And there you should stay!

whahahahaha :thumbsup::goodjob::clap::hammer2::hammer2:;)
That's what I call a quick response! Good one, Wolf. Yes I do enjoy your mod. But like you say yourself: you're more of the "historically acurate"-mod, if you like more "what if" you should try Avain's VD (don't know where but you said it yourself in one of the threads you replied in (where haven't you replied?:lol:)). Right now I'm taking a crack at Phungus' Wolfrevolution, but don't see much revolting so far, except for my opponents have doubled . Maybe because I'm a whimp and am trying it at Warlord level ;).

Anyhoe, Sorry to mess up your thread with this, Avain, I'll wait for more VD to come. And good to see you're on top of everything, Wolfshanze ;)

I need to keep my royalties up... I get a nickel every time someone plays the Wolfshanze Mod you know...

It adds-up to a Fistfull of Dollars after awhile.

Looking forward for the next version. :) There have been some nice units since the last version, for example these modern greek units. And I second MEE-light of course for non-epic-games. ;)

Btw, have you ever thought about adding an early canon unit, Avain? (Perhaps with invention of the gun powder.) I think the gap between catapults/trebuchets and canons is quite big and it is quite frustration to fight with trebuchets against musketeers. And historical there have been first canons and later effective muskets, too.

avain,

a question on your fpks. i see that you broke them down into four 100mb files. is there a reason for this? i ask because i have fpks for my personal mod and they get to 300MB and 400MB. I have been having bad memory clashes and a choppy screen and I'm trying to isolate it. since breaking things down will take some effort i'm just wondering if you had similar problems and this why you broke it into four files. thanks.

Hi Ekmek,

actually, I had problems with Vista, so the main driver to split the FPKs was to be able to get any FPKs at all. I really don't know if it has/prevents any of the impacts you described...

I've asked this same question before and it was answered by others (don't remember the names though), and they mentioned the size of the FPK doesn't effect performance (probably because you don't actually compress an FPK).

My own Wolfshanze Mod FPK is over 580MB.

I would say if you're having choppiness issues it's probably more due to the fact you have 400MB+ of custom graphics, then the size of your FPK.

That's my guess though and/or what I've been told... not sure the truth to it, but I know I asked the same question previously and I was told the size of the FPK doesn't really matter... could have been misled, dunno, that's what I was told when I asked the same question.

Could you merge Chuggi's improved graphics mod into VD...please?
Yes that mod looks great. However, it demands a lot from a computer and not everyone has such a powerfull computer. So if it is included, make it optional.

If I'm correct that MOD could without any problems be merged with VD just by copying it into VD. So whoever wants can already do so.

It can easily be merged with mods like Varietas Delectat if you like, or you can place it in your custom assets making it available for all of your games.
If Improved graphics goes into custom assets, like blue marble, you always use thos graphics, no matter if you're playing with or without VD.

RPG, I'll check if it's enough to just copy Improved Graphics to mod folder or custom assets, in which case anyone who wants it -> can do so.
I there's some merging required, I'll include the needed files, so that you could easily add Impr.Graph.

i guess I should stop making leaderheads then...:(

thx wolf and avain. i do have Vista and i know alone sucks up more memory than XP...I'll keep mssing around though. thx
