First post on the forums! Alas, it is only because I have two issues with the game

The first is mostly aesthetic; the menu screen has weirdly aligned bars.

The second is game-breaking. After I settle the first city, move the warrior and choose a tech, I am asked to build something in that first city. I move my mouse over to select a scout and much to my dismay it won't queue it.

This is in a standard set-up game as the Mongolians, but I've tried it as several other civs. My computer barely passes the system requirements but I know this game worked before because I played it for about 2 weeks straight after it came out before stopping due to a completely coincidental drop in grades. When I picked the game up again after updating it stopped working.

The first picture shows the aesthetic issue, the second shows me trying to desperately click on scout.

Bah sorry for the double post. I forgot to add the pictures!

The first graphic shows you're using an older version (1.0.0.201). Are you running Steam in offline mode? Unless you have a specific reason for not upgrading, you should get the current version (1.0.0.621).

got the same problem. Stuck on the 1st turn. >Stuck on "choose production"....I can't select anything to build because there s nothing to build ;(((
wandering why!!!
Any suggestion?

Nothing at all. I thought something was weird when I tried to tell my settler to build but the menu didn't come up so I just pressed "b" and it built the city. When it asked for production orders, I clicked on scout and it just wouldn't go through.

As for what I'm running, I have a pretty stock set up. Nothing fancy:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+
2 gigs of ram
Windows Vista 32-bit
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

I thinks that's all the information you asked for.

And I assumed Steam updated the game for me. If it doesn't, could someone tell me how to manually update the game? Much appreciated for the help so far.

Steam should be updating automatically. Check this:

Open Steam. From the menu bar at the top of the window, select Steam. Do you see an option to Go Online? If yes, do so and reopen Steam. If you saw Go Offline, go to the next step.

With Steam open, go Library --> Games --> Right-click Civ 5 --> Properties --> Updates. Under Automatic Updates, make sure the Always keep this game up to date is selected.

If you made any changes, Steam should update your game, but I'm not sure how long it will take to happen.

If you had all the right settings, or if your game still doesn't update, please post again. Thanks!
