Graphics problem--simplified terrain textures

I just installed Civilization The Complete Edition, and everything seems to work fine—but I noticed that the terrains were really "solid" and simple looking, despite having the right general colors (I used to have Civilization Vanilla before I installed the Complete Edition, so I remember what they were supposed to look like).

I have all the graphic settings on High quality, with the right screen resolution and "Low resolution terrain" disabled—any ideas?

P.S. It also seems to be just an issue for non-forest and non-hill terrain like grasslands, plains, tundras, etc.

Have you checked your graphic card setting? maybe you use anti aliasing multisampling in your VGA setting? try to turn that off, or try the default setting for your graphic card and check the game. I don't know if this working or not but when i use multi sampling in colonization ( yes i know it's different game, but at least it has similiarity. . . .isn't it ? ) some terrain became darker.

The anti-aliasing multisampling is set to zero (I had to set it that way so the civ leaders don't look like ghosts). I don't know how to deal with graphics card stuff on a macbook though.

I'll give the Blue Marble a shot if all else fails!

I attached some screenshots to show the problem better. The first one is a screenshot I pulled off the internet of how it's supposed to look. The second one is mine :( As you can see, it's missing that grainy, gradient look
