Great Britain: cannot slot factory resources??

I decided to try for an economic victory (for the first time). Have finally reached modern age and decided to play as Great Britain. Finished my first railway station (in the capital) and there's no option to build a factory. So, I built the unique manufactory, assuming that would work in the same way. It doesn't; I can't slot factory resources into it (even though I have plenty). Please can someone tell me what I'm missing? Thanks.

May need a save file to diagnose. Could it be that you actually need a railroad connection going on between two settlements, and not just a singular rail station in the capital?

Just to make sure, you have researched industrialization?

This, it might be the tech that eventually gets the factory available.

You need a rail station connected to your capital and of course the appropriate tech to build a factory. Ports are required for over sea.

Thanks everyone. I realised that Mass Production is the key technology I was missing (not industrialisation). It's working fine now.

And victory is mine! Survived the usual mass onslaught from all my foes as I got closer and completed the World Bank. Felt a bit anti-climactic, but it's nice to have finished it.
