Great idea - if it works?!

I know sod all about computers but I think you can attach sound files to emails and suchlike just as you can add pictures etc. Am I right? If so, could it be possible for people to record themselves saying hello or something and post it in OT - like a kind of extension of the members photos? Am I just making this all up in my head or is it possible and would it be allowed?

TF just needs to enable .wav, .mp3 etc. file extensions, or of course you could just upload those files using the upload feature and link to the file in your post

Well I dont understand any of that but I'll take it as a "yes" that it is possible.

I don't think it could be in posts (if it were auto-activated), just think of all the noise.

Well on the bottom of each forum page there is a link that says Upload File. Click it (make sure you have disabled any pop up stoppper programs you might have.) It will bring up a screen that has 3 fields with 'Browse' on a button next to them. Click on browse then find your file, which is usually a .wav file. Double click on the file and then click upload. your file has now been uploaded to http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads/yourfile.wav (or .mp3 etc.) Type that URL into one of your messages on this forum, then others will be able to access your file. I'm assuming you know how to record your own voice and save it...

A hack already exists for vB that allows posters to customize the music or sound that plays when someone views their profiles.

There is no plan to install that feature at the moment...

Does vB support the "[stream]" tag? Cause if it does, then it´s no problem to enable sounds.

Didn't I see somewhere in the H&J forum where someone (GhengisK) had embedded some wav file in his post, and you jst hit the "play" button to play them

I used html to do that once put then tf promptly disabled html in that forum. Must have forgotten to do so when he made it. Heheh. Easy to do when html is allowed.
