hello everyone, i am new here and i have a question that hopefully someone can answer.

ok, say i want to attack a city. i bring my army to the city, but then i can't attack the city because it is not in a grid i can use. i cannot figure out why the game will only let you move diagonally. has anyone else had this problem? i mean, i love the game, but not being able to attack some city is pretty annoying, especially when you see enemies come to your city and attack from any angle.

I hope that is it or someone will have to explain ZoC ;)

What option is it called?

Its under game options, second from the bottom. When activated, you don't have to click and drag, you just move the cursor over the selected unit until a little black arrow points to the hex the unit will move to if you click. IMHO, its not as easy to use as just clicking on a unit in the normal manner and dragging it to where you want it to go.:)

Under Game/Game Options, its titled:

[ ] Move units w/ mouse (cursor arrows).

IIRC, it is usually unchecked in GOTMs, one of the first things I change (followed by "High Council" and "Wonder Movies"!).

Keep in mind that the drag path may not match with your intended path -- I usually only use it for my pole travelers.

The goto command is a real timesaver. You just have to be very careful when you use it. (like you must know where the zero meridan is at all times)

One of the most impressive things in civ2 is sending a unit, by rail, across a large landmass. The unit flys across the map faster than the eye can follow!!! This can be especially timesaving when you want/need/have to use the same route for several units. once you know the route works, you can use it forever. like sending fresh units to the front from your factories, or sending freight to that last AI city... or in a ship chain, it saves a lot of keystrokes.:crazyeye:
