As per other things like appeal, it is updated only in your borders

Maori are crazy good on island maps. I met a city state turn 1, met another 5 or so first. My first city location isn't the best but due to being able to traverse ocean tiles and moving faster on water in general, expanding is easy. The early production for unimproved tiles is also really good. The fishing boat culture bomb is really good for grabbing a bunch of territory quick and it's fun. All the early game bonuses just slingshot them ahead of everyone else.

Already just tickled with Kupe . I could play a mere 20 minutes before heading off to work (3rd shift, uggh) but the sheer unknown of their start is fascinating . Settler found land, settled, more scouting, turns out I set up on Hojo's turf :) Second city up with Torres del Paine .

Interesting early synergy- you'll have the eureka for cheap galleys almost instantly. Should be able to crank out boats by the bushelfull early on .Boat rush!

Oh, and got an envoy from a hut. neato!

I became suzerain of Fez. 20 science per pop in a city you convert for the first time. Simply spread my religion to one of my 10 pop cities and got 200 science instantly, shaving several turns off my research and getting me a tech instantly.

I'm never gonna do it without the Fez on...

Is it me or do the AI walls seem weaker than before at turn 74 in most Deity Games?
Also since I have all these mountains and Pingala I seem to be researching faster than the AI.
I couldn't resist and took the +1 Culture +1 Science Promotions.
As much as I have chopped so far I still think Magnus would of been better though.
I have been taking at easy on chops too out of fear.
Could just be this map though I have had games like this where it seems to be a breeze.
These AI neighbors seem to be the friendly flavor as well.

1) The Barbarians are kinda annoying me. I generally like how active you have to be in Civ VI in dealing with them but they've turned up the "whack a mole" factor too much now. Destroy one camp, another spawns right where you just destroyed the previous one. Doesn't feel "right" at a first glance.

2) This is a weird one but does anyone else feel like certain sound effects worse in terms of sound quality now? I'm talking about the sounds where you select units and stuff like that. Some of them sound like the bitrate is really low now. It's definitely most noticeable with builders, but may be some other units as well.

It sucks that, as an Australian, I had to wait to get home from work before I could even start downloading the game :p.

My game is going opposite.
The Barbs are spawning camps but not units.
1 or 2 units per camp even after the scout found my capital and went back home.
Games prior the camps were spawning a unit per turn and they were aggressive.
So much easier than before although this is only game 1 for me in GS.

strategic view looks really really good
optimisation in the patch is amazing, really beyond expectations. seriously big up on this
played emperor contintents, was on my own continent, and won CV with sweden which was easy (some people may say the game is very easy now) but at least initially i enjoy how broken some of it is, like i didn't feel i wasn't playing optimally even though i wasn't. was a serious problem in r&f where i felt i should restart. i was engaged from start to finish and i finished my first game in what seems like ages. first emperor victory in a while.
UI updates are really helpful

I'm rolled a couple Mali starts and they don't seem to always start on deserts. It seems if they can't get deserts their 2nd pick is hills or jungle.

I've been going builder -> warrior -> settler as you can't delay gold income even when starting off deserts.

I'm very surprised that Mali are almost guaranteed a golden classical IF you've picked desert folklore and went for 1 HS. Your 2nd expand would toss down the CH next to the HS for 2-4gpt and your basically at golden classical with 3 cities.

By classical, Mali could have ~60gpt if lucky with hill spawns.

these are starting to annoy me

And one suspects the warmongers amongst uyp will now complain they get too many grievances against them... this is after taking out a civ in the classical era and is what Gorgo thinks of me... they really screwed this up if Gorgo thinks I am rubbish for killing someone in the classical period!
