Yes there are. Quite a few in Norway!

It's, in a round about way, related to finance. It's very indirect, and I wouldn't focus on it as a path to the map.

Might it be Sports related? Like numbers of participants/leagues/clubs of a typical American sport? Baseball? Though Austria and Denmark strike me as odd then.

I guess these two countries are the clue here, because the thing we look for is American, so it's most likely part of western culture. But it cannot be too mainstream, because otherwise Denmark, Austria, Norway and Finland would have it.

Some sort of computer programme (from Microsoft) where there are independent versions for those countries? Or some sort of financial product that is forbidden there and of which the US has the most? A Fast Food Chain which operates mostly in the US and has some franchising rights on f.e. airports?

EDIT: Didn't see the jump to the new page... So, it is indirectly linked to finance... I get the idea that it is some US-Based company because if you look at the middle East, it is only present in the capitalistic western countries of Israel and Jordan. It cannot be a company from Wall Street or a Bank or something because then it would certainly be present in the VAE.

When I say people-related, I mean the map is tracking individual people. So Uzbekistan is one person. The US makes up near 90% of the people.

What does Uzebekistan have one of? It one of those little countries by Russia that I never think about.

I know, but I doubt this is the answer. Tashkent, which is the capital, has a metro. It could be a map of countries with metro systems. Although it looks like a few countries are missing. Edit: And I know the US does not have 90% of them.
