Guess the Map V: A Map is Worth a Thousand Words

I said it was connected to World War II as the UN was formed from it's aftermath, and the Security Council was formed to help try to resolve any conflicts that may arise. :p

So if I say 9/11, I can be talking of the Iraq War? If I speak of Alexander the Great of MAcedon, do I point to Ptolemaic Egypt? Do you think of Brazils Independence, when I say Napoleonic Wars? Do you think of the Downfall of the Aztecs and Inca when I say Christoph Columbus? Do you think of German Reunification when the link provided is the Berlin Wall? Do you think of the 1967-war when the nakba/independence war is the topic? When I speak of King Henry VIII's wifes, does that point you to the Shakespeare and the Elizabethean Era ('s religion wars)? When you hear Gandhi, do you think of the nuclear arsenal of India and Pakistan? (that actually makes some sense in the sense of the Civilization Series) Do you think of the Great Depression when you hear World War 1? Do you think of Diamond mining when you hear the British Conquest of Capetown from the Boers? Do you think of Californias Gold Rush, when you hear Manifest Destiny? Do you think of the German-French Rivalry when you hear Charlemagne? Do you think of the American Vietnam War when you hear about the French Indochina-War just before?

You know, the latter is the result of the former, but the associations are wildly differing! The link is just misleading, because it could go anywhere. WW2 lead to the UN, a divided Germany, the Marshall Plan, bipolar World/Cold War, Nuclear (Non)-Proliferation, Decolonization, US Military Involvements, Independent China, the Korea War, Israeli-Independence and so on and so on.

It is fine to give hints like this, but please make it clear, that the link is not imminent (direct / reasonably close). I guess you tried to do that with your smilie there and that is probably my problem, that I am not savy enough with what each smiley actually represents.

Thank you for hearing my rant.

(So, is it the members of the Security Council going back year by year?)

The five black countries are Uinted States, Russia, Britain, France and China, they have a permanent seat in the UN Security Council.

They are founding members too...

Countries elected as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council by date?

Correct! It's more specifically the last time they were members of the UNSC. The scale goes from 1946-1955, 1956-1965, 1966-1975, e.t.c.

I do for a lot of the events you described. :p

Okay I have one, for some of you this should be easy, so I guess it won't last long ^^.

Umm there is an island on the pacific (Marshall Islands) which shouldn't be red, it's north east from Papua New Guinea, sorry for it.

Let me give you an early help: India is somehow off, and should be counted after an event later this year.

Cool! The hint was rather huge. :)

The only thing I have readily available is this map, which is also on wiki so don't image search it. :p

I think I remember this map from a previous thread. Countries with very high biodiversity?

Yes that's right, it's about "Megadiverse" countries regarding biodiversity. Obviously didn't know it was posted before. ;)

Does it have something to do with colonialism?
