Number of recognised or official languages? Green would be 1, of course.

Edit: Probably not, actually. Indonesia is green.

Yes, it't not languages

Cigarette consumption?

No,

National cardgame tournaments?

I personally would find it out by looking at what Canada and Finland have in common. To be honest, I mistrust the data from the site it comes (wikipedia) a little and would have thought that more countries would be blue, like Sweden or the Czech Republic. They certainly would be if we'd exclude the Green Category.

Otherwise I'd like to point to the single country categories: Austria (!), Ireland, Australia, Bhutan, China, Philippines and the USA.

I can't say much more than it's something social and cultural.

Guns. Gun regulation, guns per person ratio?

Buthan is archery !

I remember !!!!!

Edit: it's most popular sports in each country

Football, Ping pong, Cricket, Rugby Union, Baseball. Ice hockey. Looks like it fits. But Japan and Venezuala?

Black was kickboxing.
Mongolia is wrestling!
Orange is skiing i think.
Japan was baseball iirc.

Bingo!

Here's where I got the map from: Sporcle

The list seems to be based on Wikipedia, but I'm not sure what it's grounded in. It also has some inconsistencies (e.g. French Guyana). I'd also think that Football is still more popular than Skiing in Austria, so well... The map would be much more interesting if we'd strike Football from the list.

Japan and Venezuela are Baseball...

Damn.

I has a map:

Hopefully it wasn't posted before.

EDIT: gray is no data

All the easy ones were used in the first 5 days when the game started.

I'd rule that out.

My first idea was religion/atheism since Czech Republic, Estonia and Netherlands are the same colour. Seems unlikely since Indonesia is the same colour :)

What's up with Jordan btw.?

We have the Channel Islands, Man etc. ... Tax evasion? Space Programs?

Green: Ireland, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. That is a strange set.

So, anything to do with banking? Or law?
Not close.

Nope, religion is not close.
What's up with Jordan btw.?
I think Jordan is listed with both colors.
Hoever i have no idea what's wrong with Latvia tho.
Also, something seems wrong with the Netherlands too.
Sorry i don't have more info in regards of these.

Nope.
Countries with a lively puppet show culture?
Nope.

Hint: the colors don't represent numbers or intervals.

Place of ruling political party on the political spectrum?
