Guess Them Eight New Civs

whoops, strike another off my list the hittites are confirmed, yes they should have a chariot, they had mor chariots in there army than Ramsees the Great at the battle of Qadesh, or so i've heard, mebey they will be an even more beefed up one-2/2/2

go to civ3.com and the Mayans WILL be included.

That is good. Look at TF's new link at take a look at the screenies!

What about the Hittites?

I can't think of anything but a chariot

The hittites lived in mountain terrain in the Anatolian highland, I think.

Their chariot would then be able to travel on mountain hexes.(?)

I think Byzantium is actually where the Roman "forbidden palace" was and not a civ in itself.

The Byzantine Empire lasted for centuries after the fall of Rome. Plus, theological differences from the Roman Catholics led to the formation of the Greek Orthodox Church.

The Byzantine Empire may have begun as an offshoot of the Roman Empire, but certainly over the years became a distinct civilization of its own.

No point in having Byzantines they just became the ottoman empire anyway. so i would pick my 8 to be

Incas - religious,commercial uu-dunno
Aborigines -religious,expansionist uu-dunno
Scotland -scientific,industrious uu-jacobite
Portugal -religious,commercial uu-some sort of boat
Hungary -expansionist,commercial uu-dunno
Jews -religious-militaristic uu-dunno
nubians -commercial,expansionist uu-nubian mercinary
huns -expansionist,militaristic uu-some sort of raging bloodthirsty killer mondo of death killing thing.....

well thats my list if u can think of uu for them tell me
The Empire ofByzanz lasted one thousand years. It was conquered by the ottomans, it didn't 'became' the ottoman empire. In your list, only Portugal and Hungary are independet states today, all other 'became' something different. So i really don't see your point.

BTW,the title of the thread is "Guess the 8 new civs",not your favourites. So posts not including Mayas or Sumerians are rather pointless here.Go to the thread by calgacus for this.

you cant have the jew's as a civ- but you can have the isralites, because by saying "a jewish civ" you are saying thet every one in that civ is jewish, which in real life there in never a mono religious region in the world, and there never will be

"there need to be a lot more civs in the Americas for balance
How about the eight largest in N.A:
Cherookee
Navajo
Chippewa
Sioux
Choctaw
Pueblo
Apache
Iroquois (already there)
Lumbee" -- dr dr dokter

Most of those Civs are covered by the Iroquois already. The Iroquois were a union of 5 American Indian tribes. It tells you more on the Civelopedia...

well my new list will have to be (to incorporate the confirmed civs)

The Hittites
The Sumerians
The Dutch
The Incas
The Mayans
An African civ(i dont know enough about any of them)
An eastern european civ(like poland)
The Polynesians

Scotland???
its independant??
thats the stupidest thing ever
neither is rome or carthage so what the point in them, that basically what ure saying

conquering and becoming are basically the same thing.

eg:rome eventually became italy, Carthage eventually became algeria...think about it

P.S. BRING BACK MARCO POLO'S EMBASSY!!!

So after the update here's my guess on what they'll include:

Hittites
Sumerians
Incas
Mayans
Ethiopians (or Nubians/Ashanti)
Dutch
Portuguese
Sioux

Israel has to be in. I mean, come on. Like them or not Israel has had more influence on the world as a whole than anyother civilization.

My guess(besides the confirmed civs)

Poland
Khmer/Siam
Mali/Songhai
Not sure about the last one

UU-dug out raft-availible with pottery-1-1-3, holds 2 units, cheaper than galley
........
Plains indian tribe(take your pick)- helps keep America, the Iroquis, and the Aztecs at bay in N.America, cool history
UU-Brave- replaces ?-?/?/?

I really like the polynesia idea. and the uu.

I agree that we need another Civ for the american continents. while i would like to see an indian brave UU, i think canada should be the choice.

Sctoland is two small for Civ, Also some people want both Hungary and the Huns, there virtually the same people. They lived on the same land and the Hungarions even considure themselves the Huns ancentors. :)

However, the Dutch are now the most Liberal and progessive country there is!!

Hardly; last year the Dutch voted Pym Fortyne List - with their draconian asylum policies - into the ruling coalition.

Israel has to be in. I mean, come on. Like them or not Israel has had more influence on the world as a whole than anyother civilization.

If the Israelis are in what would be their unique unit? My guess would be a settler with a defensive/offensive value. ;)

I've rarely seen good suggestions for a UU

The sling seemed possible, but all ancient uu's have been chocked up
That makes a modern uu the only option

As I keep saying: Slinger, cheap archer...2/1/2.

I'm pretty sure the last choices will be Portugal/Holland, Angkor/Polynesia, Ethiopia/Mali, and Israel.
