My dad is trying to talk me into playing guild wars with him. Is this going to be some lame WOW like game?

Looking at your steam thread it looks like a lot of you guys play TF2@ is that going to be the more fun option?

My computer, though rather new, is not the best gaming computer does TF2 take a lot of power to run?

What;

RAM:
Graphics card:
Processor:
Operating System:

Do you have?

I would certainly say that Tf2 is a LOT more fun, afaik Guildwars is still a typical MMO but it does not have a subscription fee.

Guild Wars can run pretty much on everything. Download the trial and see if you can run it.

I have a better graphics card on y old computer, but this one we have now is a little compacted computer which is going to make it hard for me to upgrade I have a feeling. I'll have to see waht the geek squad says I guess.

Guild Wars is fun if you like that sort of game. It's way better than WoW.

TF2, for me, is just way more fun. Plus, the folks at Valve release update packs, rather than grouping them together and calling them "expansions" and forcing you to buy it. :)

But you still have to wait just as long.....

I actually remembered from the spore thread there was a site out there that will tell you if you can run the game. My compy can run it minimal, but the graphics card is below the recommended. Will that hinder the game much, do you guys find the graphics that useful? I'd hate to buy the game and then find it unplayable/unenjoyable.

Minimum specs are almost always jsut what is needed to launch the program, not have it running at a playable rate. I played SPORE at a friend's in Germany last October, with the graphics down low, and it still looked all right even then, but the game is so simple I played it without being able to read ANYTHING except numbers (I can't read German), and it fails science.

While graphics are not everything, sometimes lowest settings simply suck. See if you can put a NVIDIA 8800GT into your computer, as that card should be relatively lower in cost now and runs every game I have damn well. (Crysis, Far Cry 2, Medieval 2, all on high specs, Oblivion is STILL CHOPPY (maybe partly due to various LoD and graphics mods i had).

Anyways, yes, meeting min reqs will most likely hinder the game, if you can even run it at an acceptable level of playability. We have an excellent sub-forum for Comptuers, it's a few down below Off Topic on the forum index.

guild wars... is wow that requires you to fight in a group
guild wars has a feel different from wow.

the focus is on sorting through the great, good and mediocre skills to find those that fit your "build"

even fighting monsters in guild wars requires basic knowledge of making builds/picking skills. otherwise you run out of energy and become useless.

wow is about picking your talent path, then hunting down armour that fits your talents.

BUMP for great justice.

I got into Guild Wars again, and I'm wondering if anyone here is bored enough to play with me.

My dad sent me the trilogy, and I played a bit so that I woud have a guy ready if he ever wanted to play. he doesn't seem to want to now though. I would play, bu I doubt our schedules would match. I play games on the weekends only pretty much, and from like 4am-12 cst.

4am-12 CST? Jeez, why those weird hours?

Hmm, that's 02:00-10:00 PST. Yeah, only if I felt like waking up early on the weekends. :p
