Halo Mod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all; thx for the pics, name and storyline, but where do you get all this stuff??

I don't know, they could have 2 units, their leader and those normal laser shooting robots. Although they could advance once per era, but look the same...

that is a idea, but I since you should be able to be all the races; 2 units would be few..

I don't know about that... the humans won't build the Ghosts themselves, just capture them in some battles, and I think we should leave it to that. The humans won't form Regiments of "Ghost-Riders" as they won't be able to capture that amount of the Ghosts anyhow...
that is a good idea, but how do I make them get the ghosts when attacking ghosts?? (I havent made very much in the PTW editor, maby its possible to do it in PTW)

I don't think this mod can be the same on Vanilla Civ3 as on PTW... for example, the snow and jungle warthogs can't get the Ignored movement points on some terrains as they can in PTW.

Ok, i guess youre right, a PTW version would be better, then we could use regicide also =D
I dont have much experience with the PTW editor sine I just got PTW, but I'll just have to learn (The editors are easy to use anyway =D ) Maby a Civ3 version could come after the PTw is finished...

Yes I agree, but I want the tanks to have some drawbacks...

Maby it could be like you suggested first and then it will be upgradeable???

don't like those names... I consider a unit a Regiment of men, 1000 Marines or something... and having a Regiment of Captains sounds kind of... strange...

You are totaly right, this was just a suggestion. But when you say that I shouldn use that (I totaly agree), I would like it if you came with some suggestions to use in stead also :crazyeye:

You don't have to use variations on the old Wonders... come up with new ones, variations on some of them, and scrap some of them.

I don't really like the fortress idea, why would the Human workers build those?.

I know that, but I'ts very hard to come up with ideas that is supposed to fit with halo and there are no such things in halo...

I know that its dumb that the humans build those(it should be able to make buildings uniqe for a race), it was only a thought...

Constructiv Criticism is a good thing, but when you say I shouldnt do that, then come up with another idea I could use...

STORYLINE
The year is 2552. Planet Earth still exists, but overpopulation has forced many of her former residents to colonize other worlds. Faster-than-light travel is now a reality, and Earth's unified government, through the United Nations Space Command, has put its full weight behind the colonization effort; millions of humans now live on habitable planets in other solar systems. A keystone of humanity's colonization efforts is the planet Reach, an interstellar naval yard that builds colony ships for civilians and warships for the UNSC"s armed forces. Coveniently close to Earth, Reach is also a hub of scientific and military activity.

Thirty-two years ago, contact with the outer colony Harvest was lost. A battlegroup was sent to investigate and was almost completely destroye; only one badly damaged ship returned to Reach. Its crew told of a seemingly unstoppable alien warship that had effortlessly annihilated their forces.

This was humankind's first encounter with a group of aliens they eventually came to know as the Covenant, a collective of alien races united in their fanatical religious devotion. Covenant religious elders declared humanity an affront to the gods and the Covenant warrior caste waged a holy war upon humanity with gruesome diligence.

After a series of crushing defeats and obliterated colonies, UNSC Admiral Preston Cole established the Cole Protocol; no vessel may inadvertently lead the Covenant to Earth. When forced to withdraw ships must avoid Earth-bound vectors--even if that means jumping without proper navigational calculations. Vessels in danger of capture must self-destruct.

On Reach, a secret military project to create cyborg super-soldiers takes on newfound importance. The soldiers of the SPARTAN-II project rack up an impressive record against the Covenant in test deployments, but there are too few of them to turn the tide of the war.

Existing SPARTAN-II soldiers are recalled to Reach for further augmentation. The plan: board a Covenant vessel with the improved SPARTAN-IIs and learn the location of the Covenant home world. Two days before the mission begins, Covenant forces strike Reach and annihilate the colony. The Covenant are now on Earth's doorstep. One ship, the Pillar of Autumn, escapes with the last SPARTAN-II and makes a blind jump into deep space hoping to lead the Covenant away from Earth.

Shot down and marooned on the ancient ring-world Halo, the Master Chief and the last of the Marine forces fight for humanity against an alien onslaught as they uncover the mysteries of Halo.

This is great, but could you make storyline that woud fit in the description (its really a sham that firaxis havent fixed that..)

Yes I know, but I had no good Idea at the moment...

Anyways... I think you can make a Building and wonder Government specific. And I also think you can make techs only for one civ... so if we created a tech for each civ, that are placed outside the Tech Tree, give these techs to the specific civ, and within this Tech is the Government we want to give that civ. Make sure that that civ will change to that government, and then that civ could only build those Buildings etc... just a thought, I think I heard that this was possible, but maybe it isn't...

I'll try that later...

Yep, this is possible.

Im trying to dp that, but I cant find out how..

You need to create non-era techs and use those as the prerequisites for any civ specific items.

Also do not give any non-era tech to more than 1 civ unless you want it to be eventually learned by the civ that creates the great library or its equivalent.

You can create a whole new tree just by using non-era techs. The only downside to this is that these N-E techs will not show up in the advisor screen.

Ok.. Ill ptobably do that, although its going to make it a lot more complicated... But you do what you got a do... =D

Forgive me for this as I'm only up to level 6 (and I'm eating an icecream cone as I'm writing this), but here's 2 cents worth :

Terrain:
You might be able to coax a graphics person into making terrains to suit the Halo world. I reckon change tundra into snow fields, Grassland into the bare ground (so it can go next to the snow without looking odd), Plains into the grass, Desert into a mix between the bare ground and grass. Change the ordinary forests into rocks, pine forests into trees, and jungle into swamp. Leave the hills as hills and mountains as mountains. Use bonus resources to look like oddterrain features (eg: crash sites, pods, structures, bridges). Use cities as the various structures and bases.

Covenant Units:
Have the various kinds of each until with the weapons they use and change their stats with it. (eg: Grunts - orange weakest, red stronger and black strongest; Jackals - Blue weakest, yellow stronger; Elites: Blue weakest (might come with evil one-hit kill sword), invisible blue (might come with evil sword), red stronger (Hey, I just finished my ice cream :) ) and Yellow strongest (might come with sword); Hunters: Have them have a strong attack but moderate defense (you hit their back once and they're dead!)

Good ideas with the terrain.. :goodjob:

About the Covenants: There are no black grunts, only the yellow eltes has the sword (exept the blue invisible). Since you say Hunters die from ONE shot in the back you must be playing at easy since it takes about 7-8 plasma grenades on their back to kill them in Legendery... And there are no yellow Jackals... Other then that; it was good ideas..

I came across a yellow jackal. I guess the black grunt was a red or orange one in the dark. And about the hunters, if you get them in the orange with the pistol in one shot, no matter which difficulty (I've seen it done on Legendary) you can kill em one shot.

Yeah, and I'm playing easy :)

I have shot a Hunter in the orange with a shotgun (close-up) on Legendery.. Do you know what happend?? ..................................................................... He ...................killed me!!

If you saw a yellow jackal It was probably the lighting in the room.. there are no orange grunt only yellow and red

This halo mod is a great idea.. I cant wait untill its finished...

Sir John, it was the pistol not a shotgun. I went on the net to look it up, and yes - one shot from a pistol on the middle of the orange of the back of a hunter kills them one shot; even on Ledgendary.

But I don't need to do that yet. I play easy. I can beat them to death with my gun :)

Ok whatever.. :p

BTW I found those "yellow" jackals you saw.. They are not yellow theselves, but their shields are... =D

Does somone have an idea on what to use for making "cave entrance" it cant be a terrain since it will look wierd in generated map...

maybe a Bonus resource?

What are you gonna use the caves as? Just for the graphical look?

if you want to be able to use it to travel from one point to another then you should use the airfield (with changed graphics) you could also use the GOODY Huts or make it a bonus resource , the Goody Huts seems to me the best (unless you want the be able to travel with the cave or you already had plan for the airfield and/or Goody huts)
