Halo Mod!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, if you wanna help with the Units, PM me and I'll tell you which units you could do, or which I'm making at the moment.

i don't know what all the programs i would need in order to make them if you can tell me which programs i would need maybe i could i currently have flicster psp and sbb anymore?

Im currently working on the human techtree. Can anyone give me ideas on what to name buildings and stuff.. (even more important, please give the name of a program wich is easy to use and good when making a tech tree... I have AFS 7.0 but Ive just got and its hard to learn.. any ideas so what ever on a program??)

sir john i'm going to play halo later today and i'll see if that gives me any ideas on buildings as for a good program i'm lost i've been waiting to figure out some good programs to make units and i just ordered a demo cd of one so i'm lost on it maybe grey fox might know he helped me find the program i'm getting to make units.

Well, I Currently dont have acsess to computers regulary (Im at a library now). I will post the tech trees when I get home from my vacation (on Monday). I have cuurently completed a draft of the human tech tree, but its way not finished. I need ideas on what to include and what to not include and so on very much. The only thing I havent included in the human tech tree so far is marines that uses plasma weapons. I want the marines to be able to use plasma as well, but not untill much later then the covenants. How many buildings\wonders\smal wonders can there be in a city??

I have a theory: Lets say that max buildings is 30, then each race can have 30 seperate buldings, right? I dont think this would normaly be doable but since each race have their own set of buldings and doesnt share any buildings, then there should be able to two buildings have the same place in the city without it crashing since no civs can build the same buildings... Do you get what I mean?? I probably didnt explain it well enough... But anyway... Currently the human tech tree DRAFT is 95% finished. The Covenant tech tree DRAFT is about 50% finished and the Caretakers tech tree DRAFT is about 20% finished... I really need ideas from you on units, buildings, wonders and so on on the different tech trees, espessially the Covenant and Caretaker. I will Continiue to work on the tech trees and as I said, I will put them out on Monday or Tuesday..

BTW: Because of a stupid system on this library pc, I cant fix any typing errors, so happy interpetating... =P

I found out that they had a scanner at the library and i decided to scan the original paper I have written the tech tree on. This is just a suggestion and as you can see on the version number its WAAAAYYYY not finsihed...

BTW: I hope you manage to read this this :D

As you can see, they start off with one tech. All civs will have their own standard tech that they will start with... That is at leasr the basis im starting from when writing the tech tree. As you also may see, the tech tree is more or less divided intoo two branches, the military and the city structuring one. As it is right now you cant choose where you want to research in the military branch because they are so tied up. I will remove some arrows, so that you can choose where in the tech tree you want to go first instead of having to take all the differet sides of military to get moving, if you get what I mean... There is stil many things I have to add, change and remove, and I want your suggestions on how to do this..

I currently have added a some smaller stuff to the human tech tree and Ive made the covenant tech tree. Im working on the Caretaker tech tree but its is insanley hard. I am progressing, but its going slow. Its the difficultest because its the one I know the least about.I have added this cool thing to the civenants, they can research some fanatics stuff and build fanatics. the fanatics are slight stronger and have a hp bonus. One of their ultimate "units" is Divinie Help wich works as a sort of very strong ICBM. Please, comment the tech tree. I REALLY NEED FEEDBACK!!!!

Ok, I've finally taken some time to look at your tech tree. And I really don't think we should have anything as civilian as a McDonalds, School or Sport Stadium in this mod. It's a war mod, and let's keep it as that. We gotta forget the normal civ logic and don't think of the cities as 'cities', but as military bases. A place where the soldiers train and sleep while they are not fighting. Or defending while they are fighting.

So how many era's are we going to have?

Because with this first draft, it looks like you have squeezed in all of the human units into one era :p

So this is how we should do:
  1. First, take a decision on how many eras we want.
  2. Then, divide our units between the eras. (Like placing the Spartan-II soldiers in the last era)
  3. Thinking about what kind of improvements we want, like one bank in each era, one research center in each era, one or two happiness buildings in each era, maybe a defensive building here and there (walls etc..), etc...
  4. Dividing the improvements between the eras. And think about if they should come, early, late or in the middle of the "age".
  5. Place the techs on a piece of paper, and figuring out if we need techs in between. So called filler techs...
  6. Well, there is more to the process, but you get my thinking.
[/list=1]Anyways, I've started a new strategy into creating the Halo Units. I will try and make as many units I possibly can, and make still animations of them. And after a while, I will make the Attack animations first (as that is most important), and then the Death. And when it's needed, I will create the rest of the animations.

This way, the units will be created much faster. (And before I do all animations I will do city improvements and the other needed graphics :p)

And as I said in the PM, make the caretakers non-playable.

And if we want the techs to be visible in the tech tree John, we could always make two versions once we are done. One with the Humans, and one with the Caretakers.
That way we could always make civ specific interfaces and other graphics also :D

    /Grey Fox signing off.

yes, we would have to make two versions for it to show in the tech tree, but it wouldnt work. If we made it in a normal age, the covenants could research the human techs and vica versa...
The reason I tought about "civilian" things is because you should get the different advantages from buildings as you get in vanilla. Thas why I made up those buldings in the tech tree...

No, they won't. Because the one you don't play will have NO-Era techs. (EDIT: Hmm, maybe you are right though...)

Yeah, but we shouldn't have such buildings. It has to be something militaristic. Not McDonalds, that's just ridiculous  :p

That was the point... :D :p :D :p

I got an idea though, the techs can have one tech as requirement, which the PLayer only get.

good idea!!!

Should we have a new terrain in the mod??
I have a very nice terrain. It was originaly made for the starwars mod..

Here is an early draft for the covenants tech tree, I made for a little while age, just havent posted it up here untill now...
