Not a professional, though. In WWI he was a standard trench rat (although he randomly and improbably got transferred to most of the exciting areas of the war) and in WWII he seems to have worked somewhat loosely with the OSS (although the way it's portrayed in the movie the group comes off more as LXG).Indy was a soldier in WWI and II.
