Handy 20 Grumpy Old Men give Always War Deity Standard Pangaea a try

Basically, are you suggesting ICS? I agree that it makes sense when your units are really too many. And you can hire scientists and train trebs there.

Sort of. One can build temporary cities that are disbanded later. They can stay on workers or some such their entire lifespan, so they only need 1-2 squares.

Pre-flight – Issue number one – we don’t have any settlers. I change Lagash to a settler.

Issue number two – we only have one library. Our research capability is next to nothing. We have relied too heavily on the Great Library. Since libraries are very cheap (40 shields) I will see if we can’t build some more. I switch Kish to a library.

We have six slaves and eight workers. Not exactly a lot, but not bad.

Remember that Rat said we weren’t at war with the Mayans. They don’t have any resources, or PP, Education or Gunpowder. 14 cities.

Now we’re at war with everyone.

IB T – We had a wounded MDI guarding six workers. Well those six workers were just put to the sword by the Iroquois knight that killed the NDI. We now have two workers and six slaves.

310 – Kill the Iroquis knight, plus an Aztec spear, MDI and pike, and a Swiss Merc. Send a knight towards the Inca city to our north.

320 – Kill several intruders, plus one defender at Ica.

IBT – Lose a MDI to a knight.

330 - @ Ica – We go red on both attacks, but win both and…

Ica is razed and our leader heads back to the core.

340 – Found Susa. I use the leader to rush a library.

IBT – I spot an American cavalryman.

350 – Kill a few more invaders. Lose a knight to a LB.

I say we keep playing.

How about rushing 70 shield knight and building 40 shield lib?

I think we should rush markets for now, because even if we try to research i'm afraid that we'll have to keep our science slider low because of the army support cost.

I have thought a bit about the settling problem, and now i think that even if we don't manage to settle new areas we should continue building settlers for now and if we don't find a good spot for a new city we should do ICS outside our few very productive cities. Building more cities is our only way out of this hole and ICS'ed areas are even easier to defend then CxxC'ed ones.

This has happened alot in this game. We are better of fortifying the workers until they are safe than letting this happen over and over. Two keys to winning these games is not to attack if you will be exposed on the IBT and don't place your workers in harms way. We need to be careful.

Roster
1. Handy
2. ThERat
3. Greebley
4. Bede
5. M60A3TTS
6. Obormot
7. Sir Bugsy just played.

Looks like we went an entire roster round since I pronounced the game toast. Rat, I will try to play this tonight, and our SGOTM after that. If you can play during the day today, that is fine with me.

Agree. If we are @ zero lux a library is useless. At least the markets throw off some coin.

Agree here also. We need city count even if we plan to get rid of them later. I will look for hills do they are more defendable.

I think there is something wrong with that. IIRC Bugs swapped with someone because he was busy in GR7. It looks like Bede or Greebley is up now.

We have a lot of empty space to settle to the north and east. We are still expanding. We are far from stagnant.

If we can manage to grab much of the land left behind by Incans, we might be able to pull this off.

By the way, have the Iros been properly pillaged?

Things could be better.

We were being stretched thinner and thinner. The Berserker rush (Viking's initial units) was the straw that started lobbing nukes at the camels back however.

Oh, and the americans have almost wiped out the Incans, after which time they will send a cavalry rush at us.

[Edit: Even rushing units didn't help slow them.]

Who's up for Round 2?
hey, c'mon this is only 0:1 for now. remember how we got some beating until we settled for 1:4 on continents, this pangaea, if we can make it 1:1, we are indeed not too shabby

Lemme at 'em - The Cowardly Lion

I'll try again, but we have to be a bit more selective with the AI opponents. I mean Incas, Aztecs, Iros and Dutch? That's 4 agricultural civs against us. Not an ideal selection.
