I got a ram last year but this year it's out of my budget. Most people I know aren't doing it this year.

Now i'm hearing a lot of shots outside, don't know if it's guns or fireworks, sounds like fun though.

I'm sick to death of the firecrackers. All they do is make a noise, kids are throwing them everywhere. Lots of kids running around with toy guns too. It was the same in Ramazan Bayram, people give the kids presents, which are often toy guns. I'm not exactly against it, I had toy guns when I was a kid, it's just weird seeing kids run around everywhere with little plastic guns.

I'm not a vegetarian so I'm not going to speak out against ritual sacrifice. I will say that the mutton I had last year was a little too fresh for my taste which made it smell bad.

The ritual slaughter of sheep is disgusting and barbaric.

Its not a ritual in the sense lets kill it in a temple and leave it for the "gods" or priest, the meat isn't wasted its given to the poor. Is that barbaric, trying to help other people.

You're wasting your breath trying to convince Winner of the good or even, neutrality of any religion. To him all religion is bad and archaic and should be done away with.

He'll find someway to oppose Buddhist vegetarianism or Ancestor Worship, given enough time and creativity.

Giving it to the poor? Then it's a more modernized barbaric ritual.

The tradition of giving the meat to the poor has been part of Islamic tradition for 1400 years...

You keep part of it for yourself, give part to friends and relatives and part of it to the poor.

See my edit in the OP.

Had to read up on it, but having done so I wish everyone who celebrates it a very happy and joyous Eid al-Adha.

Strawman :p What's barbaric is the act of killing done in the way it's done. Why can't you just buy a piece of mutton and eat it? Or bake a gingerbread lamb and symbolically sacrifice it, which is what we sometimes do at Easter?

Oh give me a break  Yes, I am anti-religious, but what I find especially disgusting is killing animals in brutal ways just to fulfil some ridiculous tradition/ritual. From what I know, the sheep aren't exactly killed painlessly, and even before they're killed they're treated very badly.

And BTW, I am equally opposed to the ritual mass slaughter of carps that we "celebrate" Christmas with, in case you think I am biased against Islam/Islamic tradition (which you surely do) :p
