We often like to think that in the modern world there is no more discrimination or rascsim or such but thats obvisoulty a load of BS. When visible minorities emigrate to the West they're faced with loads of prejudice US, Canada, and Britian are the places I've heard of at least. From the taxi drivers in New York or Toronto, or the Sikh gas station attendents, or the sterotypical Paki or Guju storeowner. Its clear that there is still a diffrence between visible minoroties and white people. My question is have any of your famalies or parents ever faced such hardship when they emigrated or when you yourself emigrated?

My parents being Indian intially lived in a dilipated one room apartment in one of the crappier parts of New York and had great difficulty finding a job despite being well qualified. Working at gas station and such, before finally getting a job at a finacial company and then working his way up. Its the same type of story for loads of Asian people really.
I'm curious to see how many peoples parents or they themselves faced a similar sort of thing.
