Harshest sounding language?

Was just seeing something on Tv reminded me that Japanese, at least to someone who doesn't speak it, always sounds harsh. Sometimes German does. I imagine English might to people who don't speak it.

On the other hand the romance languages and some others rarely sound harsh except when the content and intent of it really is.

Opinions?

German is NOT a Romance language. So yeah, you're right.

I don't think Japanese is harsh-sounding.

I'd have to say harsh sounding are German and Arabic.

Any language is going to sound harsh when it's being screamed and followed by the deafening sound of an explosives charge being detonated.

When my mother-in-law talks to one of her relatives about mundane life it still sounds awful. It's an ugly language.

In my opinion Chinese is the harshest sounding language, because (I think, I'm not too sure of this) the different tones and things required while speaking it always make people sound angry whenever they speak even though they aren't. That might be because of the fact that most Chinese I've heard comes from parents speaking to their children while I'm at their house...

I love the harsher sounding languages. German, Russian, those Slavic ones in the Balkans. The romance languages just don't hold much appeal for me, though oddly I think actual Latin sounds pretty cool. Never could get into the eastern languages.

My girlfriend's mom is an off-the-boat (her term) Chinese woman who speaks no English. Oi vey.

Somehow, Layla doesn't speak Chinese either. I've no idea how they communicate, but they do. o_O
