Hattrick

First trainee popped to solid this week so hopefully I will have at least two strikers with excellent shooting by the end of the season.

That's a bit enthousiastic I think. It'll take at least 6 weeks (with a solid coach, 9 assistants and a 17 y.o. solid striker), and the season doesn't last that long. But I get your point ;) Two of my forwards got to formidable level today, a 20 and a 19 y.o.. I'm listing the unpredictable 19 y.o. for 1 mil euro's.

What happens if the player is 18? I keep on thinking there are more games left... Hopefully I will have several excellent shooters at some point next season and maybe a formidable or two at some point.

If a player is 18, it takes about a week longer to train him. If he's 19, add another week, and so on. If your trainees get to excellent somewhere at the beginning of next season, they'll get to formidable near the end of next season.

My last 3 youth pulls:

TSI: 20
TSI: 20
TSI: 30

Well I at least got an extra 10 TSI this week... :(

Yeah which is the disappointing thing. Since its been excellent I've struggled to get any decent youth pulls whilst at solid I got 2 very good pulls and a couple of other useful players. Hopefully we will both get lucky eventually.

I got a TSI 260 today. He's happy on the golfcourse now. In other news: we found out that the leader in our league hasn't logged in for 2 weeks. His scorer has 3 yellows, so he's playing with 10 players today.

Unfortunately, I'm playing him next week. But even v.s. 11 players there's a possibility. But this means that a newcomer in our league has the highes chance of becoming champion. Not that he'll win the playoffs...

Lost 6-2 away against the league leaders which I'm not too disappointed with although the draw last week means that the team really need to do well in at least 3 of their matches.

Btw a strategic question. In general with a 3-4-3 should I play 3IMs and a winger or 2IMs and 2 wingers? At the moment I am playing 2 and 2.

3 inner mids. You abandon a wing. Then you could play the remaining winger "towards middle" to strengthen your midfield, but an offensive winger is good as well. Remember to switch the winger after some matches, otherwise it's too predictable for your opponent. And if you want to play "attack in the middle" then you obviously play "towards middle".

Never play with 4 inner mids though. You won't get training.

Ok I might try that in my next game since I've noticed that my midfield ratings tend to be disasterous.

Just a couple questions since I really have no idea what to do in this area, so I thought you guys might know.

-Should I keep my starting coach for now or should I start looking for a new one? Mine is rated as a weak trainer.
-Starting out, I'm not sure what to invest the majority of my money in, youth squad, arena, or hiring a few more specialists and new players. Any advice?

Thanks.

The main way to raise cash is buy a load of 17 or 18 year olds and train them up by having a solid or passable coach and at least a few assistant coaches.

If you were training strikers then the ideal formation would be 3-4-3. You play your three best trainees in the league game and then play the other three in the friendly so that they all get trained. There is a guide at hottrick.org that talks about what you should look for in trainees. They should tend to be at least inadequate in the skill you are trying to train and then have some sort of decent secondary skill. Since passing is the secondary skill for strikers I should have tried to get more trainees with a higher passing skill than I did.

A couple of physios are probably a good idea and a couple of spokespeople as well since they allow you to get more supporters which influence attendences.

It might be a good idea to make some expansion to your stadium since the prices are going up at the end of the season but at the start of the game 7000 will probably be enough. When expanding the stadium make sure you expand using the ideal numbers that several programs will show. I.e you don't want all seats.

The youth squad investment is tricky. At the moment there are some people who think its best to start off with the middle investment until you hit passable and then increase it to the maximum amount whilst others always invest the maximum which is quicker but you have to pay the extra weekly cost with the bonus of potentially getting better trainees.

Thanks alot. :)

This is a little more overwhelming and big than FootieManager.

Which can be a good thing. Bear in mind that once the training program is set up then to a certain degree you don't have to do all that much except arrange weekly friendlies and pick the team. Its just that there is far more long term strategy involved.

You mean: "there is a long term strategy" [rolleyes]

If you've got money left, this is a good time to expand your stadium. Don't get into debt for it though.

Another trainee popped to solid this week so if the other 4 players pop a level before the end of the season I would have one excellent, 4 solids and a passable. The current Inadequate player should level up next week hopefully. The excellent player may or may not pop in the last week.

Worst result of my hattrick career. Drew with the bottom of the league club which have a manager who hasn't logged in since october. And also we lost two players for 3 weeks each including my goalkeeper so unless I sign a new keeper I will have to play a wretched goalkeeper.

Well the result yesterday was just as disappointing if not worse. Another 4-4 draw at home where the stats suggest that we were the best team by a large margin and since we were playing at home it seems odd that they were able to win. These two results have completely screwed up my season and now it looks as if we will struggle to finish in the top 6 since the sixth place team is only 4 points behind and if you extend the pattern of results then we will lose the two away games and get another 4-4 draw at home.

I brought a solid playmaker with inadequate passing, form, stamina and solid set pieces. Although his form increased to passable in the training update. The idea is that he will be a decent midfielder for me if he pops a stamina level during the off season. He went for £38 000 which seems reasonable although it does put me in debt again.
