Well, I was simply interested to know if you've already been fan of a musician or a band. I'm curious because I used to be a great fan of Björk. I listened to her less now but it's been quite excessive in the past. I've just learned she has sung during the opening of the Olympics and I can't help myself to be completely mad to have missed it. Well anyway, I'm listening back to her a bit now.

So what about you ? :)

Nope don't listen to music much, and find obsessing over a singer to be stupid.

Not really. I happen to like certain artist's music alot but I am not a fan in the closer sense. The only thing I'm a fan of is a certain football club, not individuals.

Actuallly, the (musical) artists I admire/appreciate most were 'composers', not 'singers'. If I had to pick one, I guess I'd say Bach - but there's others (and not necessarily from the classical era).

Well, when I was talking about fan, I didn't mean hysterical... simply well, someone you find quite moving... and well, you like to hear a lot...

I used to get high and listen to a LOT of Led Zeppelin. Now I barely ever listen to them

Yeah, I love Peter Gabriel and all his songs, like San Jacinto, Family Snapshot, The Family and the fishing net, Here comes the Flood. All songs that are touched with a great sense of sociology.

No, that's not at all out of place.

Admiring Bach is certainly not so different than admiring Led Zeppelin. As I've said in my post above, you're profoundly touched by the music of that Artist.

I'm a pretty huge fan of this band called Arizing but as the group has fallen apart I have lost a lot of interest in them, now there is no real band that stands out to be as great as them, except maybe Dream Theater. And I'm only a fan in a sense that I loved their music, nothing else.

I love music. Mostly punk music. Not the punk you see on MTV, for the most part. I like and do listen to other kinds of music though.

I can't imagine my life without music. I play bass guitar and own an electric and acoustic guitar (and own an electric keyboard by proxy through my wife). I love concerts and watching people play.

Yes, I'm a fan of several musicians/bands, which I respect for their inspiring work. In particular I am a fan of the Flandres (Antwerp basically) music scene, particulary bands like dEUS and Zita Swoon, represented by their "leaders", Tom Barman and Stef Kamil Carlens respectively. It doesn't mean that I idolize them though. Tom Barman for example, directed a film last year, which I did not really like and thought it was a pointless exercise of style.

I generally listen to instrumental music more than lyrical music. If I had a choice between any particular writer of music, I could not give you any, really. I am more a fanatic of particular pieces than composers or singers in and of themselves.

I think my screenname, avatar, and location should answer that particular question...

I consider myself a real fan of many musicians, but I also probably listen to music a lot more than most. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Traffic, The Beatles, U2, Black Sabbath, JS Bach, Bob Dylan, Neil Young...just to name a few.

Pink Floyd, Zeppelin, Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, Depeche Mode, Rush, the Rolling Stones and Dire Straits all tickle my fancy.

I listen to a lot of music, but I've never been a fan. Never been to a concert, music festival, or tried to. I basically listen to one band's music for a while, then switch to a new band. No real fan of anybody.

Right now for me-Metallica, The Stones, Radiohead and Deep Purple. Listening to Master of Puppets as I type.

Pretty much the same answer I gave in the brand loyalty thread.

No. Good music is not synonymous with good musician. You cannot win my loyalty with a good performance. You cannot lose it through a bad performance either.

My loyalty to individuals is earned somewhat differently.

I fall in and out of love with bands all the time. The first band I was crazy about was Oasis when I was 10. Then it was NOFX when I was 14. Then Bigwig at 16 (as Stevenpfo has already noticed ;) , they're responsible for my avatar). Last year it was The Ramones. Right now, it's Screeching Weasel and The Queers, although I'm currently looking for a new band, since I can't find any more CD's by either of them in shops in this country.

I'm really fanatical about my bands and take every opportunity I can get to see bands I like, or used to like, or might like in the future, or that my friends like, play.

One thing I won't do though is get their signatures, posters, T-shirts, or other merchandise besides CD's and gig tickets.

Muse, and Matt Bellamy. Love them very much, big fan :)

and am enjoying The Cat Empire at the moment. they're very good :)
