I care more about historic facts then the fact that Kuby look nice or not... I think that people that play civ4 are smart enough to accept the fact that vikings had no horns...

I hope not. Firaxis can't just go around swapping names - they are part of history. "Queen Victoria looks ugly so lets swap her with some supermodel". It makes no sense at all and it should be changed immediately.

Unfortunately, its a little late to change. Firaxis has always made a "cartoon version" of history anyway (intentionally because civ is a lighthearted fun game). Vikings have horns, Mongols don't look nice, etc.

Better late than never. They should own up to their mistake and correct it. I don't really care about the Vikings having horned helmets - it's just a stereotype. What is entirely wrong is swapping the images of leaders because one looks better. They were living people and you can't just change history to make it fit better.

Yeah it's definitely moddable. Swap the leaders, or swap the backgrounds. Yeah, also, yellow was the imperial color for China - Kublai's robe would be fitting for Qin.

Yeh I was thinking about this earlier because a few days ago I saw a docmentary about Quin and I thougt he looked nothing like the game leaderhead, though I assumed this was simply because they couldn't find an actor that looked like him (they were rubbish dramatisations thought)

Actually, Qin's colour was Black. Which is why Qin's royal robes are black, as can be seen in that famous drawing:

I believe the colour system for the dynasties broke down with the Tang and the emperor just became imperial yellow then.

Considering the mistakes made in the rest of Civ 4, I think giving Qin imperial yellow would be pretty minor

It's probably since Ming dynasty, which is pretty recent (14th - 17th century).

Qin was black and Han was red.

What's the way to switch the backgrounds?

I went into the ArtDefines_Leaderhead.xml file and switched all the lines for the two leaders except the backgrounds. It's a simple text edit and it works, but now the background for Kublai Khan (the stone wall with little plants growing on it) shows a thick red horizontal bar at the top.
Oh, Masters of Leaderhead Making, please tell us how to successfully make this switch. Yes, we really want to waste our lives cleaning up after Firaxis. Tell us how, PLEASE.
