out of all the people you know - how many play or have even heard of civ?
maybe it's the type of people i hang out with but almost nobody that i know plays civ.
one guy at work claims to play but he never wants to have a go online & one other guy i used to work w/ a few years ago...thats it.
yet from this site & online games etc it's obvious that a lot of people are playing...

hmmm :hmm:
civ players are kind of like porno chicks...you see that there are thousands of them out there...but where are they all hiding?

:shifty:

one of my friends owns Civ IV... or one version, and I'm pretty sure I know two other people who have Civ III

and a few of my other friends think its interesting enough to try it out

well... remember... this is a site where people from all across the Globe play.... its like taking people out of a pool of 6.7 billion, vs. a pool of 50

in small clefts in rocks, or up in the tallest trees.....

its where I hide when other Civvers come to find me (I'm not kidding)

My son is a player - I got him hooked on Civ 1 when it came out but he is the only one I know about.

No one bites when I mention playing. I had to explain to my sewing circle one Wed. night that I was late because Persia declared war on me and I lost track of the time. :rotfl:

:rotfl:

would have paid to see that! I too have a very hard time finding anyone who plays at all. My brother is the only one I know that plays frequently though I did give a friend a copy once. In the city of 9 million where I lived up until 3 months ago there was only one other person who had found his way to CFC to post all of 16 times.

My Dad is a Civilization addict; though he's currently a Civ 4 addict. Both my brothers play some, as well, although I'm definitely more addicted than they are. And this morning, I was using a computer usually reserved for students, and noticed a familiar folder entitled "Firaxis Games." A quick check showed that someone had indeed downloaded Civ III. It's technically illegal, but I think I'll pretend I didn't notice.

Hmm. I've had my photo taken with Sid and Barry, so I suppose I could say I know them .... ;)

But, in my "normal" life, there were three or four where I used to work, and another couple that I know of at my new job. So that's not so bad. (Although, Civ and computer-geekery seem to go hand-in-hand.) Plus, I'm pretty sure my neighbor across the street has it. I was working on the yard a couple months ago, and he was out washing his car, when his son rushed out, "Dad! I just wiped out the Aztecs!"

Well, we are an odd bunch, you know; most nights I murder, rape and pillage, sometimes laying waste entire civilizations.............. other nights I play Civ. :)

Ahh, for me, I kill bandits, loot their bodies and do evil missions for Daedric princes at night. I play Oblivion after going to bed and Civ3 when I'm up, so I'm even more evil.... muahahahaha!

I know one person(~22 year old), but there are more, many older people (not meant as an insult) play civilization, but do they talk about it? Not many like strategical games, prefer first person shooters instead.

I have a few friends who play, but both of them prefer civ4. Savages.

However just today I was at my new bosses place, and we were at the computer getting some invoices printed out and what do I see but a Civ 3 disk on his desk.So I casually mentioned it, and he was "Oh my god that game has cost me so much sleep". So we talked civ all day at work, and I think gained some friendship. That's never bad. He's a really nice fellow anyways, but we now have outed ourselves as geeks to each other.

e was pretty amazed to hear about this site and is more then curious to try some of the scenarios (TCW deluxe especially) as he's also an avid war gamer.

I hope all this is remembered when it's time to discuss raises.

My friend showed me Civ3 like 5 years ago or something (long time ago) when i was little and I've always liked it since. Another friend also has Civ4 but really...Civ4... :p

im the one that spreads the civ disease. 3 people who i showed civ3 to got civ3 for themselves a few weeks later:lol:

Only have three friends really ever play... roommate in college who used to play cheiftan just to beat-down the computer, the guy across the hall who always played huge games that took him weeks to finish, and another friend from high school who played it some and got bored, moved on to games like Alpha Centauri. Oh -- and I guess my ex-g/f's sister played Civ4 all the time... but she was a complete dolt, used Ghandi all the time and barely managed to accomplish anything of significance even on chieftan.

All the people at work who's desk is close to mine "know" the game... from me, of course. They just don't seem interested to play it. And I'm not really interested too in getting them interested... Still with me? :hmm: It doesn't look as spectacular as a console game with all the awesome graphics, nor has the intensity of a shooter game... but I'm sure they would love it if they just gave it a try. The thing is, imagine what would happen to the company if all the informatics staff were addicted to Civ3!
The guys I hang with don't really like strategy games, too much thinking for them. Only one friend I had who liked them... but he was stuck at Broodwar... aaah the good old days :old: and though I didn't play that any more, we could still speak hours about larvae rushing and tanks splattering zergling meat everywhere

Plently of my friends play. it's a bit of an underground cutural phenomonon in Columbus lol. at my school most people play it and if they don't, they've at least heard of it. In fact people at my school post screenshots of their high scores on the bullentin board sometimes lolz.

oh god... you aren't a buckeye fan are you? :cringe:

I am, and proud of it. We just need a better quarterback and a decent offensive coordinator, then we might win the marquee games.
