Theres an option were you can have it runing only as your screansaver if you are worried about CPU usage

I have contributed to similar things before. There might be an option to run it as a system thingymowidget instead of a less efficient program.

I'll not be contributing to this particular effort because my PC is hundreds of miles away, and this laptop (aka Frankenstein's science project) doesn't have a lot of clout - but I offer moral support :salute:

Anyone know how much CPU usage the process uses when it does the computing?

When it's on it uses like 95-99 percent of the CPU, but it's priority is automatically set to "Low" so you can even use the PC with it running on the background and it won't bother you. (I can play HL2/Civ3 while it's on the back, and the game will use the needed amount of CPU, and the last priority is for the UD Agent) So no problem here. ;)

I used to run this, but it kills my computer because of the strain on the cpu. I would do it again I suppose...

And for the others, this is legit.

Just downloaded it and running it: CivFanatics Team will rock!

I looked at it with suspicion!

I want the British cancer foundation to built the great wonder "Cure for cancer"

:D

I have joined (as CFC Taliesin). My massively underused CPU is processing ligands as we speak!

What does team captain do(I'm team captain :) )

I've joined the team and will surely be the best civfanatic on the project :D

:yeah:

Liking the comparison my PC makes with a high-end desktop, all of 25% better despite it miscalculating my storage as 0.98 Gb Vs the 400 Gb or so I have free :king:

kOc: I have the same storage calculation problem. I would love to give 10 GB to it, but for some reason it won't accept any more than 0.98.

How many alien civilizations where exactly found on the SETI@home project? ;)

I always feel like these kinds of things don't really help. But maybe I'm wrong. I'll dowload the software anyway and check it out.

it only updates your settings after you complete a work unit,
with a 5gb storage I'm currently 175% of a high end desktop :D

I've switched over from Team RegCancerbusters (The Register, where I first heard about this) and as I've not had a machine actually running it in months, added my home workstations.

Hmmm it says 13 members on the team, but only lists 6 - BirdJaguar, DamnYankee, Dease, me, dolby71, and SupperSalmon - what happened to the other 7?
