How can I remove all civilizations unique bonuses/abilities/units in Civ 5 ?

EXAMPLE Civilization: Persia Darius the Great

Special Ability: Archaemenid Legacy: Golden Ages last 50% longer.
During Golden Ages, your units receive +1 movement and a 10% combat strength bonus.

Unique Unit: Immortal: Replaces the Spearman. Compared to the Spearman, the Immortal gains +1 combat strength (total 8).
They also heal at double rate, making it a useful unit to go barbarian hunting with.

So that they'll all start with equal traits, at least playing offline !
(And yes, I know the AI moves in different "difficulty-speeds")

Probably this is answered somewhere else - forgive my ignorance ...

:help:

I searched and could not find an answer to this, but i'm sure there are clever Civ5-modders and players out there,
who can enlighten me about this subject and since I've only played it a few times I'm unaware of where to find
this "switch" or mod ... But perhaps there is none ? :dunno:

Please help an otherwise gifted Civ-player ! :)

You'll probably have to make your own mod, which means primarily updating the Civ5Traits (and the Civ5Traits_Expansion file if you have the expansion) to remove the UA bonuses (Unless you can set a Civ to have no trait?), the Civ5Civilizations (and Civ5Civilizations_Expansion) to remove the UUs, UBs, and the Huns' free starting tech, the Civ5Improvements_Expansion file to remove any UIs. Also each DLC civ will have their own individual files.

Thank You for breaking the ice ... :hatsoff:

Sounds easy when You write it, but I'm not sure how to use a switch correctly or even make a mod !
I guess there is a guidance-page somewhere, with examples ?

I'm not lazy, letting others do the work,
yet if there ALREADY is a mod
it would be silly to start over again ! :hammer2:

Does "Gods & Kings" have this option ?

You can't simply delete all the UU and UB (or UI). Every civ has to have at least two overrides to be correctly showed in the UI. It is hardcoded:sad:.

Thanks for the info :thanx:

Which probably means (as I suspected from the moment I turned Civ 5 on first time !)
it is impossible ... unless FireAxis themselves introduce this option, right ?

And it's apparently not one of the options in "Gods & Kings" ?

In Civ 4 there was this option as far as I recall ... :hmm::hmm::hmm:

This is actually easier than it looks like.
  • Download the civ5 SDK. Also download Notepad++ for its "search in all files" feature that every modder needs since the game itself is the main source of documentation.
  • First of all, read Kael's guide. Some things may be outdated but it's still the best tutorial you will ever find when it comes to civ5 modding. Also look at the modding>tutorials section on this very website.
  • Delete all rows in the traits table or update them with fake data (the latter option looks better). You may learn that in Kael's guide, otherwise use Google or look at a mod that does that with any table.
  • Optionally modify the vanilla UI through your mod (setting Hidden="1" on the two traits buttons may be enough).

Couldn't you just set the override to the default unit (replace the unitclass with the regular version of the unit, same with buildings)? Also, how is it done in those scenarios where Civs have only 1 or sometimes even no Unique units/buildings?

Thank You for sharing this ... You're saying it's not impossible and may even be done by a mod-beginner ?
Well, I'm afraid there are a couple of terms and expressions unfamiliar to me, that I'd have to understand .

Are You in tune/accordance with what DonQuiche is saying about how easy it should be ?
I don't mind trying, but this is mostly new territory to me and will most likely take some time !

Just don't wanna try if it's done before or can't be done ! :undecide: :cowboy:

Yes, definitely. :)

You need to read the Kael's guide I mentioned.
