No the worst that can happen is that they have a thoroughly unhelpful book, in which case he's wasted time reading the book, and may not even realize he's gotten unhelpful information.There's no harm in giving it a shot though, the worst thing that can happen is they don't have what he needs, in which case it hasn't actually cost him anything.
