Well, I disagree with your 1st statement. Here is why:The ads in the forum are really not that bad: there is only 1 standard size banner at the bottom and a little hitbox banner which is for site stats purpose. I only run a popup stopper that blocks popups but not standard banner ads. Telefragged provides a free service and relies entirely on ad revenues to support the server and bandwidth costs. So I urge everyone not to block the ad banners on the forum. Running a little popup stopper program is sufficient.
Keep in mind that AtGuard 3.22 was last revised in October of 1999, and is only marginally suited to even Windows2000 prebuilds. I do not jump on the MS Bandwagon and use every pre-beta OS like XP just because MS commands it. I use Win95, and have it huming better than most of the newest MS offerings because I understand it in great detail. Thus, AtGaurd is fine for me. i do not believe it can run error-free with XP and ME, and possibly even some "fixes" that can be applied in Win2k. That is why I recommend something like ZoneAlarm (plus some of my friends in the industry recommend it)... ZA is current, and up to date with it's programming for the latest MS blunders, which all small companies must be to keep their programs running with MS bug-ridden products. Everything can be made to run well in MS OSs, but you have to keep on top of it, esp. in the fast-changing (e.g, lots of fixes and patches) world of XP and ME in particular.Hmmm. Must try AtGuard. I use ZoneAlarm, PopUp Stopper, and PurgeIE, along with Norton AntiVirus and CrashGuard. I track my bandwidth usage with NetPerSec. I rely upon PurgeIE to locate offending cookies and block them using the cookie manager internal to IE6. That still leaves me open to script exploits, which I get around by the laborious process of adding offending sites to IE's "Restricted Zone (where scripting is turned off)," which is a pain.
BTW, Starlifter, I would never recommend anyone using BlackIce Defender. It really isn't much of a firewall. The free version of ZoneAlarm is better.
Ive never used Popup Stopper or PurgeIE. Are they good?PopUp Stopper, and PurgeIE, along with Norton AntiVirus and CrashGuard
Yup. You can see the UGO directory sources in the screenshot I posted yesterday. Its something called "media-manager.ugo" (not exactly, but close) thats doing it.
That looks great! You nailed that ad! Let us know what you think of ZA after using it for a couple days. What speed is your CPU, and how fast is your connection tot he Internet? do you notice an overall speedup, slowdown, or no change when ZA is active? My whole system is faster with AtGuard active, as I found out yesterday. But a big part of that is my slow (450MHz & 44K) speeds.Ha! Look at this, it tried again right after my post.

I have NAV & CG, but do not use CG because of some very techincal reasons that apply to my usage more than maybe an "average" user's. CG can actually cause more problems than it traps under certain circumstances.
I have an early version of Norton Internet Security, but never installed or tested it. The early versions had some bugs that did not get me enthsed about the product, and at the time, AtGuard and BlackICE Defender were working very well in tandem. At the moment, I don't run BiD since I don't mainain a braodband connection right now (just dial up).
I personally think it is a wise thing to go with Win98 over WinME. BTW, MS owes you a working OS, since they do not advertise an OS that works 97% of the time, or crashes only twice a day, or has over 6,000 known and acknowledge, yet unresolved, errors, etc. etc.Not a problem for me, as I use Win98. I shouldn't have any trouble with AtGuard. After purchasing the SE upgrade for Win98, I resolved that I would never again shell out money (which I can ill-afford) for another MS operating system.

I specifically said the ads in the *forum* are not bad, not the main site.Well, I disagree with your 1st statement. Here is why:
I loaded your main page, with AtGuard on, as usual. For the first time, I decided to turn AtGaurd off, and see what happened. So I clicked it off, and forced a full page reload (Shift-Reload in Netscape). The result was an unholy mess.
