Periodically Losing Focus on Text Entry Box

I forgot about it .

Like 15 min ago I installed Chrome (before I tested in Chromium), logged in with my fake account, went to this thread, put the cursor in the reply box, and put my phone on the space bar. Then I went to do some other bussiness, and 10 min later the focus was still in the box, producing lots of spaces. So... :dunno:, cannot replicate the problem.
I've given you now temporary "supporter" status, to see if this changes anything. If so, then the problem is indeed with the ads. I doubt this though, I think it might be a Chrome plugin or something else in your specific Chrome setup which causes this.
But let's see how it goes for a few days, then we know more.

While I haven't had that issue on desktop, I have found the mobile interface to be a challenge... You might want to see if there's any browser extensions you have installed too? uBlock?

There wasn't any question about it being related to the ads, as I could see the banner reloading when it loses focus. So unsurprisingly, I haven't seen it happen since the ads have gone.

I didn't check for extensions before because I hadn't installed any, but I did check now and there was a pair of Google extensions which were either default or had installed themselves. One of them claiming to be a Google Analytics extension was flagged by Chrome itself as something that should perhaps be uninstalled, so it's possible that one of these may have been part of the interaction.

If you want to re-enable the ads, I can check to see if one of these extensions is causing the issue. Though I won't complain if you just leave them off... :D

Well, that seemed like a good theory, but unfortunately it's still happening. Even with all of the extensions and apps removed, and running after a fresh reboot and with Chrome as the only window open, the focus loss still happens, whether I'm typing or the window is idle.

The only other thing that I can think of that is unusual about my system is that I have multiple monitors... but that's not that unusual.

I spend a lot of time on various forums and social media systems with edit boxes, and I haven't experienced this behavior anywhere but here.

Yes, I experience it. I see it most often using my work laptop (just happened) running Chrome Version 130.0.6723.117.

It didn't happen when a Sephora ad repeated, but it did happen when it switched vendors to Discover.

Okay, I've also given you supporter status for now.
We'll revisit that after the next bigger Chrome update (or whenever I find the time ).
I've been meaning to make a donation for a while... this may be the incentive for me to do it!
