Hint at 3rd expansion from Firaxis??

There are many important civs missing: Maya, Ethiopia, Babylon, Portugal, Byzantium... it does not make any of these favorite civs of fans to be neglected now. Babylon has been in the game since Civ1, why would they be neglected in Civ6?
I think there is a significant possibility for a third expansion, including to add alt leaders to civs like China or Egypt.

I feel confident they will go for a third expansion.... The thing is, the second isn't out yet and this game has so much potential that I would love to be sure that not only a third, but a fourth expansion would come out along with lots of AI improvements to make the game as complete as possible
Highly doubt this will ever happen as AI improvements are generally only marketable to and noticed by serious fans and players

From an economic point-of-view a third expansion seems like a better strategy. The spin-off games don’t sell as well as the original game. My guess is most people who own the core game buy the expansions. At a $40 price point it seems like it might be more profitable to go this route.

Where? Do you have a URL for that? I would be curious to see....a third expansion would mean we would likely see the Maya, Ethiopia, and several other missing key civs.

"I think there'll be two more expansions for Civ VI rather than just one so Maya, Byzantium, Portugal, Assyria/Babylon, a Native American Civ, Ethiopia would be very likely for Expansion 3. Mali was already in my list. Phoenicia would make Carthage unlikely." - Holy Prophet AssemblingTyphoon

Who is Assembling Typhoon, and what was his basis for predicting a third expansion?

A third expansion seems unlikely since with the 2nd we would be over 40 civs, and Ed Beach has repeatedly mentioned (including in the Gathering Storm stream) that differentiating the civs becomes more challenging once you hit 40.

We ONLY have ONE prophet.

PBUH Eagle Persuit.

Personally I hope for a third expansion, but I suspect the reference to testing with scenarios is for future games. There's a heck of a lot of Beyond Earth (& Rising Tide) present in VI, fleshed out or watered down and modified as needed.

AssemblingTyphoon (Which is a play on the name GatheringStorm) was created months before the expansion was announced and all of his posts were (seemingly) correct guesses of the features coming in the expansion. You can look him/her up yourself on the forums here.

I see. But he doesn't seem to have a solid basis for his third expansion guess, and everything the developers have said so far seems to go against it (esp. Ed Beach's remarks on the length of the development cycle), so I remain confidently skeptical. :)

There seems to be subtle hints that at least more content is coming after, such as a disease mechanic, but who knows how it would be implemented either in an expansion, patch or DLC.

Time to make more casus bellis. :mischief:

Disease might be added in a patch, but there's no substance to the idea they will use it for a third expansion. Frankly I would rather they focus on Civ VII anyway.

Why tho? They just start over every time, why not spend more time on civ vi an really make it good with all the featured we want from a civ game?
Because I'm honestly looking forward to a new aesthetic and less Eurocentric choices for civs. A new Civ game would help there more than yet another expansion.

I don't think the scope is limited to climate change, with multiple other significant aspects.

I don't want a Civ without Babylon, Maya, Ethiopia, etc......

I'm afraid that if they start over, the base game will be more Eurocentric than you would like to be honest.
